no problem, yeah Junichi Sato's an industry veteran hahaha. he's worked on a lot of good magical girl anime. i agree that the second half of A Whisker Away isn't as good as the first half; it seems like they tried too hard to be like ghibli movies, but the writing kinda gives the idea that Mari Okada might not know why people like those parts of ghibli movies?
anyway have fun happy watching XD

Hello. I love the Madoka Magica manga as much as the anime, and I had read it before I watched the show. Dunno if you will like it more than the show if you thought it was boring, but hey, go ahead and give it a read if you're really interested in it. There's also a couple of interesting changes from the anime as both were made at pretty much the same time.
Hmmm, are you asking for general magical girl recommendations? tbh I'm not exactly sure if I can think of anything you might like for sure based on our shared anime/affinity... maybe try some of these?

Princess Tutu - directed by the same director behind A Whisker Away
Ojamajo Doremi - probably not your usual taste at all lol but hey it's also directed by the same director behind A Whisker Away so give it a shot anyway
Prétear - directed (and created!) by the same director behind A Whisker Away
Uta∽Kata - i think you might be interested in its drama? maybe? idk give it a shot
Magic User's Club - i think you might find this OVA funny
