My scores are roughly normalized around a mean of 5.0. I also only rate one entry (season) per franchise, and I don't rate shorts or hentai. Here's a general idea of how I rate things:

10) The best anime that I've ever seen. Currently reserved for only four shows:

• Re:Zero: The first anime that I ever watched on my own. Tangibly changed my life, and changed me as a person on a fundamental level. Still the best plot I've ever seen.
  
• Houseki no Kuni: IMO, the best main character, soundtrack, and character development I've ever seen, and a close second to Violet Evergarden for animation (but still light years ahead of anything else).
  
• Koe no Katachi: Made me cry for 45 minutes.
  
• Wonder Egg Priority: the hardest-hitting TV series I've seen in my years of weebdom after Re:Zero. The only seasonal anime I've ever watched that made me feel like I got hit by a train week after week.

9) Masterpiece that permanently changed the course of my weebdom: JoJo, Love Live!, Eromanga-Sensei, Tokyo Ghoul, Shokugeki no Souma
Alternatively, a masterpiece that came damn close to perfection: Violet Evergarden, Hinamatsuri, Madoka Magica, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Kimi no Na Wa
