I'm unsure as to why you should read the few words that will swiftly follow, but if you really need a reason, let's just say that for one we probably share a common experience enjoying animes ... since you're here.
Well, I'm honored to share this common interest with you. Thank you for this.
Quick notes about my scoring/ratings :
10 : Most likely will not happen often. It's not about the saying that "nothing's perfect in this world", but more likely because to get a 10, the anime would have to share both incredible artistic and entertainment values, values which would therefore significantly determine and influence both Arts *and* the Media/Entertainment industry.
09 +/- : Really excellent anime. Mostly, it means you can't miss something rated as such, because you will probably find something to see for yourself whatever the genre you usually favored.
08 +/- : Very good anime, but could be specific to some viewers more than others.
07-06 +/- : Good, in a fashion. Could be easier as long as you put your brain to sleep doing so.
05 +/- : Barely watchable, easier when you're feeling very conciliant. I sometimes use a 5 rating when I have no idea what is the show value for its audience.
Below 5 : most likely animes conceived as a modern form of torture, or some kind of weapon specifically targeting your eyes before melting your ears, loosing your other senses in the process. Just avoid this or report the authors/editor/production to your local human rights defense association. Please.

One outs is sick!
I never watched/read Ashita no Joe, now you got me interested. But yeah I agree, anything past 2000 is too old for the kids nowadays. All I can do is shrug.
