I don't think they intend to have 2nd season. Already 10 years. It's been ages! Definitely recommend continuing to read the manga after finish the anime. We literally got season 2, season 3, and so on, only it's not animated. The anime really sticks to the manga so even if you re-read from chapter 1 in case you thought you missed anything, nah you better not. You're basically rewatching the show. That's why you can just continue at where the last episode left off in the manga

Hello from 6 months after! Very sorry for replying way later.

Even though I believe there are a lot more AkaYona fans out there, but yeah it is quite rare to find one among the ones we can see. The manga is chef kiss and is definitely my fave manga ever (at least from the chapters I have reached so far), and it will stay that way regardless

As for reverse harems, I think they are very much something you either like or you hate. I personally like it. I can't explain why. I probably like it more than conventional harem stories because they are at least a little more grounded. Women can sometimes write men very poorly in their fiction, but male authors also write women very poorly. Plenty of popular shows feature a bevy of girls crushing on one random nondescript guy. It's just what it is I guess.

I think the romance subplot is the least interesting part of Chihayafuru for me honestly. I liked the show because it's otherwise well-written and it helped introduce me to a bit of Japanese culture I would not otherwise have engaged with. I do like the main character and I think her story of living in the shadow of her sister and finally getting her parents to show their pride in her is very compelling. I like a lot of shows that engage with topics like this. It's one of the reasons I'm so keen on kono oto tomare as well.
