Okay so I've finally come back to read this comment after finally finishing the manga
Eren threw away his character for the sake of what he felt he had to do.
Historia pregnancy was an example of Eren choosing his own people over the rest of the world, which is also why he did the rumbling and entrusted the future to his friends.
Eren didn't kill his mom on purpose, he just blames himself for her death at the hands of the titans.
Paradis was "destroyed" as a consequence of humanity continuing to exist and fight, It's natural considering they destroyed 80% of humanity.
Titans are dead, but the child at the end of the series is going into the tree to presumably revive their power like Ymir did and continue the cycle.
He did essentially kill 80% of humanity for his own selfish reasons and I can see not liking that but he did the best he could with what he was given and I would have been 10 times more disappointed with the euthanization plan. At least this way he was able to free his friends from their curses and give them their lives back. If there's anything I don't like about this it's that it all essentially boils down to the standard message of life being precious and to value your time with your loved ones. I need more time to think on that but I think for the moment I'm satisfied with the ending.
Ymir and Mikasa were both bound by love to madmen who saved them, seems like a decent parallel to me.
Mikasa kissing Eren's dead head was sweet imo
Reiner is based for sniffing the letter although I do hope the anime does his redemption a little more smoothly
Annie is bae.
Anyway you may not even remember this but your comment has been sitting on my profile for a long time lol.
Would love to hear your thoughts on any of what I said and I'm curious if you still feel the same way about the ending.
I agree with you, Tokyo ghoul really is edgy, but it's okay, I think I'm gonna see where it ends up.
I have returned to reading manga lately, and reading so many manga at once. Tokyo Revengers, Berserk, Jujutsu Kaisen, Record of Rangarok are my current manga that I regularly read. And thhey're all wonderful.
I recently finished Chainsaw Man and Solo Leveling, both are amazing too.
I can't stand watching anime anymore, no matter how good it is, I'm just burnt out, I will return to watching someday maybe.

Reading manga is more fun to me rn.
What about you?
I saw that you read up till chapter 84 of Tokyo Ghoul, then dropped it with a rating of 3/10. Can I ask why you didn't like it?
I'm currently at chapter 80 and it's actually good.
