Watching: Anime I'm currently watching, mostly seasonal.
Completed: Anime I've watched from beginning to end.
On hold: Backlog anime that have already aired.
Dropped: Anime I gave up on, mostly rated 1 or 2, but sometimes 3's.
Plan to watch: Unaired anime I will at least give a try when raws come out.
Ratings
The way I think about rating media is I first categorize it into either one of four groups:
bad (1-2), mediocre (3-5), good (6-7) or favorite (8-10).
Favorite gets three tiers to give a better idea of my taste.
Mediocre gets three tiers because it is by far the most common rating.
1 - Something I actively dislike or hate
2 - Extremely boring, but no actual hatred
3 - Very generic and somewhat boring
4 - Mediocre, everything starts here and slowly gets pushed up or down as I continue
5 - Some good aspects, but ultimately still mediocre
6 - Good in most aspects
7 - Very good in most aspects, very few negatives
8 - Favorite low tier
9 - Favorite high tier
10 - Favorite god tier
Other
I watch everything raw and I honestly don't understand how anyone else doesn't.
You have this constant barrier of what you think is being said and what is actually being said.
You may read into certain things that aren't there, or miss things that are.
Not to mention you end up watching half of the anime with your peripheral vision.
It's hard to even take anyone seriously if they consume anime like this.
I do read manga, raw of course, but I choose not to track it on myanimelist as the database is so incomplete.
Unlike anime, there is a sea of untranslated manga that is unknown to western audiences that aren't added here.
The moderation team is so slow that it sometimes takes years to get submissions approved, so ultimately it's not worth the effort.
