>If he had been more human I think it would have enhanced the dynamic between him and his students, and their dynamic with one another. Someone like Logan Roy in SUCCESSION is what I'm thinking of.
you didnt get it, their dynamic is basically a blind cult composed by psychopaths. Also the comparison with Yujiro it felt out of place, Yujiro is Author Character's pet and he change his personality depended of whatever he wants, theres no consistency with yujiro; The entire thing is a extreme potrayal and critique to bushido code and feudal politics. THose "Shonen techniques" are part of the novel (Ive own the novel) and pretty much were a thing in those times, some are hard imaginery potrayal of human spirit by Yamaguchi but the point remains, its the kind or barbarie you find in baki too
yo really random but i agreed with all your points on your review of MW. yuki felt really shallow as a villain and though the story gave some insight to his motivation, the "imma die so the whole world can go f itself with me" is still a very weak trope. The artstyle also put me off a little but I guess it's interesting to know that this is from the same guy that made astro boy (did not know about Osamu Tezuka at all before reading this)
