Hi! Dropped by your profile from the 20+ club, and thought I might leave a little comment. :) Interesting about-section. I completely agree when it comes to horror. I should update myself on what I might have missed out on there. You also reminded me that I need to get back to playing Persona 4. :) Cheers

That sounds...odd.

So wait, who is in the middle? Kobato?

Sena got psycho? I might need to watch it...

How's Haganai NEXT looking?

(Apologies for not responding to your last comment. I didn't have anything else to say...)

Sell them to me...! I was extremely tempted to buy the Ultimate Madoka figma, but $200+ was just too much at the time (and still would be...). I like buying, but I can also be very indecisive with how I want to spend my money, often ending up with me not buying enough to satisfy.

Ooh, Steins;Gate is great. I was totally going to buy it, but then my brother said he wanted to split it with me since he loved it too, but then we never got around to ordering it. I totally want to re-watch it in English. Which leads me to...

Warn me? Lol! Look at four of my favorite people! I have a history on this site of being a huge supporter/defender of English dubs and was even hired onto the site staff for it. And I absolutely love your experience of being able to discern someone's poor acting while a person who didn't know the language couldn't because that's an argument I used a lot (dub haters just love to say "the acting in Japanese is better") but dub haters are almost always blind to. I basically always watch my anime in English if the option is available, and I only won't if the dub really is just awful, but I haven't found many of those (they do exist, though).

On that note, what do you think of Madoka's dub? The show was extremely popular before the dub came out, which leads to a lot of people over-criticizing it, but I thought it was done really well (and I had already seen it subbed twice). Every part was fitting at worst, great at best. I remember feeling like Kyouko's actress in particular must have really enjoyed her part and I found her performance to be the best of the bunch.

Oh, that's totally what siblings do.

Oh man, Mami's death. I remember first seeing it and I was like, "Whoa...Wait, she's not dead, right? There's no way she's actually dead." Then I watched the rest of the episode and realized she probably was. On the other hand, a friend of mine who watched it a bit later was convinced Mami was still alive until maybe episode 9. It really is one of those shows that just doesn't turn out how it looks, but then, that's part of what made it so huge.

In any case, I own the collector's edition blu-ray/DVD boxsets and saw the movies on the very first showing in the entire country! Because I am just that awesome. Pricey, yes, but it makes me happy in a way; there was never much merchandise around for my other favorites (I'd have completely emptied my wallet for Clannad, for example, if I could have), so it feels good to finally be able to splurge on something I really, really, like. My wall is covered with Madoka stuff I bought at AX, though I never got my hands on a figurine. Oh well.

I am taking a break this coming season. I've spent the past year watching 80+% of airing anime and I need a breather, so I'll only be picking up sequels to stuff I like: Chihayafuru 2, Minami-ke 4, and AKB0048 2. I'll be waiting on Haganai since the charm on that wore off fast. I do really want to watch Vividred Operation, but will probably wait. 12 episodes only takes a long time if you're Girls und Panzer.

Yeah, SAO has become oddly notorious. The novel did have a strong following before the anime aired, but when the anime aired, things just exploded. My best guess is that the premise and first couple episodes just had that much impact. It was something new (for most) and exciting and deals with a subject that is much more prevalent among internet users than otherwise (MMOs). People started talking about it right away and those who might not have watched it originally were drawn in by all the hype. Then the side stories and playing house and, most of all, the second half came and the community was completely split in two.

Madoka did something no one expected (well, some people did), but Did It Right, and didn't continue to shit on itself, either. Plus its villain is just infinitely better than either of SAO's villains. I mean, Kayaba isn't that bad, but Sugou is just so comical.

Well, this may be just a technicality, but Clannad's not really a harem. It's pretty close, since it's about one guy befriending a bunch of girls (it is adapted from a dating sim), and there's one scene in particular that is basically straight out of your classic harem anime, but otherwise all the relationships except for the one between the main two are completely platonic (discounting the alternate universe OVAs, which I'm not very fond of myself). Like I mentioned before, the second season takes a different approach, and if you can see any harem in there at all, it's only in the first half. The second half does away with any of that completely. Just be careful with the end, it trips a lot of people up.

Oreimo really angered me, but not for the harem antics, surprisingly. I really just hated Kirino. Haganai...could have done without half of its cast. I really enjoyed it when it was just the main three, and I also liked Kobato, but the other three were kind of unwelcome additions to me.

Kenshin anime would be perfect if it had the final arc from the manga. Lack of that is the only reason I consider the manga better, but it's still really good.

If you enjoy SAO because you can make fun of it, that's all good with me. Personally, even though most people find the second half significantly worse - and understandably so - I actually enjoyed it more because it was so ridiculous and over-the-top I just couldn't help but find it funny. As far as loving it or hating it, this may sound weird given my score of 1/10, but...I don't hate it. It came to the point where I just felt it was so bad that I would feel bad hating it, and I began to just pity it.

Lol, "sad moe girls crying in the rain" isn't such a bad description, to be honest. For the first season, anyway. The two seasons share similarities for sure, but when the second season gets real, it's much different. To me, it's an extremely powerful coming-of-age story about the importance of family (the title Clannad translates to "Family"). Little Busters so far is...okay in comparison. The adaptation is being done by a different studio and almost doesn't even feel like Key to me. I wouldn't judge the others based on that one at all. I mean, the Key/KyoAni works are some of my favorite anime series ever and I own hard copies of all three, but as it is now, I wouldn't spend a cent on Little Busters.

Lol! You must be the complete opposite of me. Your profile says you're very extroverted IRL and you also say you're shy online, while I'm very introverted IRL and...well, still fairly introverted online but much less so.

Oh, do you dislike Clannad? It's not on your list, so I would have guessed you've not seen it.

Ah, New Year's resolutions. I stopped trying those a few years back when I didn't make it a week. But, hey, that's a good one! Who knows? Maybe I have just unintentionally helped you out with it.

Hello there. By your name, location, and age, I have concluded that you are this user on ANN. We had a mild run-in with each other in the Anime in America thread (I use the same name over there). When you mentioned that you had an account here I decided to see if I could find you. You seem like an interesting person, so I thought I'd send you a greeting. If my math is correct, it would appear you need to update your age in your About Me section.

And don't worry, I won't think any less of you for enjoying SAO.

You don't seem to use this site too often like I do, but hopefully we can kill some time together anyway.
