Mmm see I think I kind of ended up going Emi>Hanako=Lilly>Rin>>>Shizune. Shizune's route was just laughable to me. She herself seemed like a bitch and if I remember correctly you only had to make ONE choice the whole time through. Rin's was frustrating for me but at least a challenge because there were a lot of different choices and ending. Overall though I still really enjoyed the game.

Well I started playing Kanon a little while ago after I watched the anime and I tried also getting into Shuffle! for the same reason. The first one is dated, but pretty good still, while the latter...well it isn't quite so good. Haha.

Now that I'm starting to finish some more of them up, it actually does seem like Rin's was one of the most emotionally-charged story lines and the ending was pretty touching. Emi's still felt the most natural for me out of all of them so far though.

I don't know about you but Rin's arc really pissed me off. Not sure if it was just because it hurt my brain to read most of her sentences or because Hisao was just sad the whole time, but in the end I was really just kind of irked.

Also if you find a really good book that'll be a good spark to get you into reading.

Ehh thus far I haven't heard too man complains really, it seemed like in the thread you started most people agreed that it was handled well. And yeah, 4 Leaf Studios did a really good job and it definitely seems like they put a lot of time into this work.

Ahh yeah it's really making me want to get into playing VNs, but they aren't exactly easy to come by so I don't know if I have the time or resources to get more of them (also it's a good thing I like to read). Haha. How far along are you? I've got Rin and Emi down, working on Lilly, and I'll get to the other two at some point soon. I'm trying to get 100% but I'm missing a scene in the first act and I don't know what it is.

Considering how well the game handles the issue of disabilities, people shouldn't even really be getting riled up over the game anyways. It's hard for me to explain. It's like the disabilities matter and help to move the story along, but at the same time you kind of just get used to it and forget about it and in the end they really don't matter.

Thanks for posting the download link for Katawa Shoujo in the forums the other day! I downloaded it and I've been playing it nonstop the past few days, never played a VN before but I'm really enjoying it.

You can have harem without ecchi or fanserivce but it usually comes that way. Ecchi is almost always played for laughs as is fanservice but fanservice can also be a very tasteful shower scene, bath scene, or glimpse of nudity during a transformation. Reverse Harems - several guys devoted to one girl have a completely different feel to them but then most of them are shoujo or josie (targeted at females) .

*Note: a touch of tasteful nudity can be representative of innocence or
spirituality.

Oh, some folks consider a love triangle a sort of harem, others don't.

Fan service = an aesthetic, transient glimpse of nudity, , sexy maid costumes, "accidental exposure" , a glimpse of a character's panties, legs spread, clothing torn away in a fight, jiggling breasts, Shower scenes, hot springs scenes, bathing suit scenes, etc. There is fanservice for guys, fanservice for girls, even fanserivce for mecha fans.

ecchi = Fanserivce plus a character's preoccupation with sex. A nosebleed is a Japanese euphemism for sexual arousal. There is often accidental touching of breasts and one character falling and landing on top of the other. Boobs are o.k. Pubic hair is not. Male frontal nudity is generally censored.

You can have fanservice without ecchi but not ecchi without fanservice.

Hentai is animated pornography. Genitalia and sex acts are graphically displayed.

Harem = several girls interested in one guy. Harem can contain fanserivce and eechi. Hentai can have a harem theme but will be cited as being hentai and rated RX

Reverse harem = several guys devoted to one female.

Hi there; Perfect Blue is a famous anime movie that has been licensed in many countries, even small and obscure ones. I don't know where you are from, but before streaming, do a search at your local rental shop. The movie is great (much better than Paprika, in my opinion) and the small rental fee is definitely justified. You will probably want to own the dvd afterwards.
