I've been an otaku since around 1993-1994. I'm also a purist otaku, only watching anime in the original Japanese language; I abhor English dubs with a passion. I've gone through a series of different stages in my otakudom: watching anime with my sister in the 90s, running a local anime club in the early 2000s, and then a break from anime that was replaced with an interest in Japanese romance gaming (a.k.a. "visual novels"). Around 2012-2013 I went through another round of interest in anime, and moderated an online "book club"-style anime club,
PAWD (Pick Anime, Watch, Discuss) which was hosted as a members-only group on LiveJournal, and also was found on irc.rizon.net in the channel #anime_discuss. After another lengthy hiatus, I am now in a heavy manga-reading phase, with some occassional anime-watching.
In addition to enjoying a variety of anime and manga, I also enjoy parapara dancing, reading light novels, watching live action Japanese dramas and movies, playing video games and visual novels/eroge, and attending anime conventions. I'm also a large fan of boys' love, and feel no shame about my fujoshi roots. Currently I collect far more anime, manga, and games than I actually have time to engage in, but still enjoy them whenever time allows.
