I've been watching several anime series along with my friends during childhood. Doraemon and Maison Ikkoku are all-time favourites. I lost interest in anime somewhere in the '90s, but it revived during the animeboom of 2001 in the west.
I don't watch that much anime nowadays. Friends from Japan and here in the Netherlands recommend me stuff, but I'm very picky when it comes down to it. Usually it's just the same directors, studios, genres etc which draw my attention. My preference goes out to (school)dramas, love, comedy and Satoshi Kon.
I don't like otaku-culture.

If you haven't read the manga you definatly should! Since the anime... you know... kind of ends before the end...
The manga is very intense~ emotionally that is~ Alot more about Arima's past~
