Hey Jordan, just thought I'd whip up some recommended anime, here they are!

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi - About a young pupil in Martial Arts striving to learn how to protect himself and others! Good show!

Kaze no Stigma - Misfortune has fallen upon a town from evil magic users, a flame user and a wind user are partnered up from their clan to protect the city! <<< Highly recommend!

Kurokami - An intense action show. Look up some youtube videos. This show got too drawn out for me.

Needless - Good action, interesting but cliche characters, but other than that, I recommend watching some youtube videos. This is one of my personal favorites.

The Law of Ueki - This is the show that got me rolling into anime. Great action, good characters, solid plot, one of those shows that really make you say "whoa, that was awesome!" HIGHLY recommended.

Yozakura Quartet - Last but not least, good characters, decent action, decent plot, yet this is one of my favorites. Recommended.

I suggest you watch Fullmetal Alchemist and/or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Great show with supernatural/nice characters/drama. Ga-Rei -Zero-, it's like a fusion of the positive things of Elfen Lied and Bleach.

You should read Berserk, very violent and gory, has sex scene/interpretation/related subject, extremely well drawn fighting scene.

If you're into psychological things with a little bit of supernatural, you should watch(or read) Death Note and watch Code Geass.
