You should see the Hunter x Hunter 2011 remake that is far superior to the classic.

Oh wow I never knew that! Hah you're already teaching people, great start hehe :) I just watched that video by oversimplify, i like the style of video, adding comdey throughout making it easy to watch :D I honestly had no idea about 60% of the content, In school I was taught about mainly the wives thing! Kinda sad what happened to him really seeing as he started out so well.

Ah yeah the War of the roses! I did do a little bit on that, and battle of hastings where King Harold took an arrow to the eye. Honestly the whole thing just makes me think of Game of Thrones xD It's incredible how brutal we once were and how much civilization has changed into what we have now. King's and queens did have that scary power to literally do what ever they want! I will check out that video later on and get back to you! :)

That's great that you want to get into teaching! The world definitely needs more people with a passion like your's to teach others and hopefully spark inspiration in them! :) Good luck with your course ^^ For me I don't have a specific time that I favortise, there's so much to learn. During school we only ever learned about ww1 and ww2, we did a little bit on victorian times (I am English) espcially king henry the 8th for some reason.. But once I left school I'd learn random facts either through TV or friends about other cultures history which actually interests me more than what I was taught in school lol. But obviously we can't learn it all in that short time! haha

Yeah, films like that are great. Can't think of many others but stuff like Platoon etc are similar I guess.

It's about the rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia after the americans left Vietnam. Really really tragic what happened but also a powerful film. The two main guys are journalists who witness the events and it's based on a true story. Don't wanna say too much unless you see it.
TheConquerer Oct 11, 2020 2:47 PM
Oh right, I can see why that would spark interest in the region. I definitely always felt like Cambodia/Vietnam would have a very tragic but interesting feel to visit. Ever watch The Killing Fields? That film definitely struck a chord with me when I saw it.

Fair, kinda in the same boat. Why Vietnam tho? I guess it's got nice geography but tbh I would've expected Japan instead.
TheConquerer Oct 11, 2020 2:14 PM
Ah ok, yeah then maybe it's not for you. Do you not like travelling? I always thought it was a great way to gain new perspectives, which is kinda like what history does too.

Really? It's actually very common for researchers to do their phd or teach in a different country. Alot of lecturers here are from the states or uk/germany/italy etc. I wouldn't completely dismiss it unless you really have something against leaving the US.
TheConquerer Oct 11, 2020 2:00 PM
Oh then it sounds right up your alley to go into academia. Why don't you just get a grant and do your phd in the UK or Ireland, I bet it'll be way cheaper if not free. Here's what I got from a quick search. That might not be a subject that interests you but shouldn't be too hard to find one Id say.
TheConquerer Oct 11, 2020 1:45 PM
dont you have grants for phds in the states? At least thats what its like here. Of course yeah you gotta want it as well cause its alot of work.
TheConquerer Oct 11, 2020 1:34 PM
What about being a lecturer or a researcher? Just sayin if the teaching part doesn't interest you as much. Although I guess it does or you wouldn't have wanted this profession. I do enjoy history so feel free to rant here lol.
TheConquerer Oct 11, 2020 1:25 PM
Oh nice, yeah they don't teach much american history here except the basics like independance and ww2. Being a history teacher or just teacher in general sounds tough, especially when students can be so unfocused.

Np happens to us all. What kind of history do you study btw if you dont mind me askin?
