I started watching anime when i was 4 or 5, i remember voltes V (that mushroom like explosion after the laser sword V-slash) and DragonBall Z (kamehamewave!). However the first anime i seriously watched was Gundam Wing, I was a grade schooler but i got hooked right away with some high-tech stuffs and socio-political themes. I thought it was really cool the way they put some depth in the story. The characters and their sophisticated gundam designs were awesome during the 90's. I also grew-up watching Yu yu hakusho, flame of recca, pokemon, zenki, n. g. evangelion, nadia, blue blink, trigun, bebop, naruto, one piece, hxh(not the remake) etc.
I realized that i witnessed anime evolved from its art/graphics, characters, plot, music, its genre and culture. It became more entertaining and i never get tired of it, main reason would be the creativity which is sometimes better than Hollywood movies i watched. Improved story lines feeding the mind intellectually and scenes that play with our emotions. When my favorite anime series reached its final episode, its making me feel sentimental its like saying goodbye to a friend.
When it comes to manga, i started reading in college. The "Slamdunk" anime was not complete so i had to continue with the manga. I'm an office guy now and still into anime+manga, I am really that old, whew... looking forward for more..

Monster is a slow suspense. It will build up over time. Keep watching it and you won't be disappointed!

About the article: that's kind of sad. I would like an anime where the childhood friend succeeds. I think childhood friends that turn into romances are cute.
