why do people care for anything but the plot?!?
let’s be real, animation quality and whatnot cannot make up for a poor storyline but an intriguing plot makes an anime worth watching regardless of the rest…
I'm in my late 20s and have been into anime/manga for over 10 years now. Honestly, I find it hard to find anime that can keep up with modern tv series/movies in the storytelling department, or maybe I‘m getting too old for the simple manga to anime formula and expect more? Where are the cool 80s originals of these days? Still, I somehow never get tired of trying to find gems with promising ideas and often end up enjoying shows even if they are not that great - I wouldn‘t call myself picky, I watch a lot of mediocre stuff to chill out lmao. Fav genres are Sci-Fi, Psychological, Mythology, Fantasy, Edo Period/Historical, generally anything with a dark vibe/complex plot/badass MCs or dry/mature humor.
I’m also into BL but not so much into the typical tropes or rather I am sick of rape/emotional abuse plots. I want a more realistic portrayal of gay relationships. Possibly stuff with a genre besides BL. If you have recommendations, no matter if it‘s actually labeled as such or from another genre with a character dynamic I can ship, I‘m listening. manga/manhwa/manhua recs are welcome anytime, too :)
