Nothing special about me really.Enjoy watching some anime, especially slice of life animes. I'm not all hardcore like some others on the site, just a casual fan (though I will admit I am obsessed with K-on! I adore it). Aside from that, I work out, read and play video games for my hobbies. While not a huge sports buff, I love football both NFL and College.
Yes. The vast majority on MAL, even the ones who presume themselves intelligent and look down upon the rest of the masses, really have little clue about the intricacies which goes behind the production of some anime. Too many think their petty literary analysis skills from high school can apply to audiovisual media produced and written by people with actual literary degrees, and presume themselves capable of formulating valid analysis and criticism (my sides). Take a look at basically any popular negative review; all criticisms they contain are superficial at best but more often completely missing the point. That's why I make it a rule of thumb to never read any review which gives scores below 7. The reviewer probably either ignored the purpose and themes of the show, or flat out missed it. The cover for an anime is a more accurate indicator of quality than negative reviews.
I haven't watched Shigurui, nor do I have any plans to watch it as of now. But you can bet your ass that I wouldn't have anything negative to shay about that show. The cover is so cool.
Hello, so is Hokuto no Ken awesome or what? btw, I love that picture you have of Spawn. If I could reincarnate into anything I want, I'd be him. If I do go to hell, then I'll surpass the devil like Spawn did.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I certainly don't think of my own word as law, every review is just me trying my hardest to coherently explain my point of view. It's always nice to hear from the other side.
I havent thought about that show in a while. I can remember many a rant I had with friends over that show. Surprised you were inspired to watch it though because of my review. I remember being pretty hard on it. I ended up getting plenty of negative feedback from fans of the show.
Thank you, but not only is NHK is one of my favorites, it's my number one. As for the manga, I really enjoyed the liberties it took with the story and still turned out to be great without being a cash in-tie in to the anime and novel.
Thank you, anything can be a good story as long as the material is treated with maturity and not with foolishness and laziness.
You watched the second episode as well? I wish he could make more, but if he's busy there's no helping it, but he did do a cameo in one of team four star's abridges.
Thank you, but I will admit that the review is on the extreme biased side, and you really can do worse than KissXsis, but for me personally I'm in total disgust with it.
And as a fellow fist of the north star fan, I'm sure you'll love this
This is not a good thing; as the OP, you should complain to the forum administrators about this; even if there is a reason to lock your thread (which I am not seeing), they should at least make a post to explain why.
It seems the recommendation request thread you made (about slice of life) is locked. Did you lock it? I do not see why.
In my opinion, Yotsubato (manga) does count for what you want, and if you read a little bit of it you will understand why. Yotsuba's father is a main character, too :)
Nice anime that were not mentioned include Boku Otaryman and Yurumates, but all the recommendations in that thread were very good.
Yup. SHAFT is a Japanese animation studio. They're very well known for creating unorthodox anime, many of which feature gags and references through writing in blackboards in the background. They have a very distinct style, usually you can tell almost straight away if something is done by SHAFT or not.
Some of their more well known stuff include the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Hidmari Sketch, ef - a tale of two and Bakemonogatari, and more recently, Madoka.

Also, I approve of Samuel Jackson being in your favorite people. :D

Thanks again.
