I liked Punpun, but I also felt like Asano pushed it too far in purpose of creating depression and darkness. Scenes such as Aiko hanging herself I still liked, but at that point it was just so over the top that none of it had any impact on me.
Aku no Hana on the other hand made the mc accept himself and the world which was great development in my eyes. For once, there was a happy ending more rewarding than tragic.
I do respect Asano a lot as a write. Mainly because he created Nijigahara Holograph. I am saying he because at that point he still -at least officially- was a man. I believe he went thru sex "change" operation 2 volumes before Oyasumi Punpun ended. I guess his own identity problems have motivated him as a writer.
eu achei meio bizarro o ritmo dessa série pq o começo é bem intenso, as coisas vão acontecendo bem rápido e a relação do médico com o assassino e os problemas morais derivados são bem expostos. mas aí do nada virou uma ROAD TRIP meio slice of life?
