Re: Nanana, I do think it's quite a nice looking show, and it's certainly not as bad as I thought. I just find it a little....bland? I don't like any of the characters terribly aside from the MC, and even he isn't especially wonderful, though I do like Ono Yuki quite a bit. Anyway I'm sticking with it for now, it's only 11 eps after all.
Tops of the season...I'd have to say Haikyuu, Captain Earth, and Ping Pong...and I'm also really enjoying NGNL - Matsuoka is such a goofball in that one! I love hearing him just be nuts. I think Sidonia is getting stronger by the week even though the CG still makes me want to vomit. In terms of sequels I'm really looking forward to Mushishi and JoJo's every week. How about you?
So I heard you were championing Nanana while I was telling Mike I wanted to drop it haha. Tell me why you like it! I thought the first three episodes were kind of blah. What am I missing here?
I'm actually feeling that way with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure right now - the new season's starting and everyone keeps telling me how amazing it is, but I tried to watch it twice and dropped it both times. I'm trying again now and I guess third time's the charm, because I finished the first arc and made it to the bit where Sugita's the MC, which helps. And it IS funny and full of camp, but I still don't see why everyone is so wild about it. I feel like I'm missing something vital here.
See, I couldn't do Arpeggio because of the CG (I guess I'm just a snob lol), but I also wasn't interested enough in the premise to stick it out. But I saw the new PV for Sidonia today and it's certainly not the worst CG character animation I've ever seen. Nihei's characters aren't that detailed or expressive anyway, so it might work out. But I'm still skeptical.
Yeah I was surprised that they skipped most of the first chapter, and also that the jumping off the building episode was anime original. I've had a bunch of reading to do lately, but I want to get back to it, since I've just reached the bit where the anime ended. It's really not the same without Kamiyan though, even if the manga art is nice :P
I liked the ED Ono Kensho did (I downloaded the single haha), but I still thought it would have been better with an OLDCODEX ending! It just didn't feel right to me...but I'm also a big Tatsu fan so that might have made me a bit biased. I'm a fan of Ono Kensho as well, but he always plays such calm roles - whenever they give him a part that gets emotional I get excited because I want to hear more of him besides his Kuroko voice.
Matsuoka's in a bunch of terrible shows again this season, as always, and Ohsaka Ryota and Shimazaki Nobunaga will still be appearing a lot it seems. Shimazaki is in Daimidaler and I'm having a very difficult time seeing him as a hot-blooded mecha pilot in an ecchi anime, so I'll probably have to give that one a try just for the novelty factor. I'm also looking forward to hearing Kimura Subaru in Ping Pong and Tachibana Shinnosuke in Mekakucity Actors. Haikyuu's cast looks great overall, too!
Summer season looks great already! I was following all the announcements from Anime Japan obsessively. It's nice to know there's something good to look forward to if this season blows lol.
Winter season I thought ended up being fairly ok despite looking like crap at the beginning of the season, but that's probably partially because there was so much ongoing from fall. I really enjoyed Hoozuki and the second season of Silver Spoon, and of course Noragami! I already miss it too - I started reading the manga so I don't have to say goodbye to Yato ;_;

Space Dandy has been a bit of a letdown as far as it goes. Same with NobuFool; I am devastated that Kawamori didn't deliver...I was expecting Sengoku Basara meets Aquarion EVOL, and instead I got Joan of Arc being a reverse trap. I think I'm going to save that one for group watching with my anime friends; it seems like it'd be more fun with people. I'm carrying on with Hamatora even though I think it's pretty bad and trying way too hard to be cool, and I'm enjoying Hoozuki no Reitetsu, though it's really bizarre.
I somehow have way more series than I thought too! I think it's partially because of all my carryovers from fall (thank god for sports anime), plus all these little short series like Tonari no Seki-kun and Pupa (though I think I'm only watching that for curiosity and/or to hear Shimazaki Nobunaga's reactions to getting eaten by his sister). Nobunagun, Inari Konkon, and Koiuta are barely holding my interest, so they might go if they don't get exciting soon.
Mahou Sensou was really so bad, and Mamo is using the voice I hate the most - that soft timid thing he does just never works for me. At least in NobuFool you also get to hear Sakurai and Sugita ;) This season isn't great for seiyuu, really, although I'm still watching Buddy Complex for Matsuoka and soldiering on with SamFlam because I got attached to Kenn last season and he has a bit part in in.
Matsuoka's Titus in Magi, right? I follow the manga, so I was excited when they announced that casting. I've been hoping for him to appear this whole time ^^
Third UtaPri series, so fabulous. I've been waiting for that announcement! I wonder if they will call it 3000%? Too bad we have to wait a whole year D:
Samumenco...yeah....I was hoping they were going to explain the big "twist" of last week this time and instead they just carried on like it was totally normal! I hope they eventually have a plan to explain what's going on; it's like the show did a 180 right in the middle of the first cour. I mean, it's still enjoyable with monsters, it just doesn't make any sense! Generally I'm torn when it comes to SamFlam - on one hand, I really enjoy(ed) the story, characters, directing, and seiyuu...and on the other hand the art is atrocious and the animation is laughable. I'm definitely not planning to give it up, but I am heavily skeptical.
>he's well fit!
I love when we're on the same page, Nat ;) Did you know I just found that he's in some kind of seiyuu unit with Hosoya, who I adore?http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxx9eqUaTq1qbbpyfo2_500.jpg
I think he is popular...ish. It seemed like he had a really brief moment in the sun before Ohsaka Ryota world domination happened this year. Maybe he's busy doing bonus materials for SAO haha. Hopefully he'll be back - he's got those teeny parts in Daiya no A and Nagi no Asukara this season, but he should be featured quite a bit in Magi since he's voicing Titus. I'm still waiting in vain for Okamoto to make his glorious return to voicing characters I actually like ;_;
I'm usually a Kimura fan but I just can't stand him in Meganebu. Actually most of the cast isn't great there, excluding Ishida of course, who is a miracle in everything as usual. I was even a little excited to hear Tamaru Atsushi in Megane because his character in Tamako Market was so cute, but he's so nasal >.<
Hiroomi in KnK really is great^^ I'm enjoying Kenn in that show too. Also what do you think of Masuda Toshiki in Samumenco? His character is so moe, and the magazine scans I've seen with him and Sugita are adorable: http://i.imgur.com/Br6PT3ah.jpg
Not enough Matsuoka in this season for me :( I don't know when I became such a fan of his but suddenly I miss him.
