Ahahaha! No problem! (It probably is for the best, though. As those aren't animes I would really watch again - I'd probably watch something like Inuyashiki again, I definitely recommend that if you haven't seen it btw)
I agree, at the start I thought their relationship was more on the sibling side, like platonic. The kissing was just... why??? They generally acted in a sibling manner like, family. And then as you said, her brain isn't developed enough (cuz she's a child) to grasp the concept of romance and feelings. And as smart as she is Satou, probably knows that as well. I do generally feel bad for the both of them, if not for her toxic aunt being an extreme masochist exposing her to some... "things" at an early on age, Satou would've been aright. And Shio generally deserves better... it's kind of heartbreaking to hear her say that Satou brung joy to her life when she doesn't understand the situation she was in. I hoped for the ending to of Shio growing up and remembering how she was manipulated into kissing and "loving" her captor. Reminds me of another anime "First Love Monster" and that one was just weird as hell... but not as disturbing as HSL..
Can I really blame you? Going back and watching that forgettable cringefest of an "anime" is not something I would EVER consider even if you'd pay me. I definitely don't want to go through that experience again, I agree though, I pulled myself to watch Amnesia and Dance with Devils. I hate both of the characters. I watched the dub of Amnesia, and Yui and the FML were too similar (facial structure, no personality etc...) AND THE SAME ENGLISH VA!? Red flags were setting off smh...
Then you got the stubborn bitch who got her friend killed because she just couldn't sit the fuck down and stayed inside and maybe play some Genshin Impact like a normal person (nah, kidding it wasn't released at that time). Now (whats-her-name-again? Ah, fuck it.) Dora the Explorer over here, her stubborness was kind of refreshing since she wasn't weak and submissive but that could honestly get you killed if you don't know when to stop. That was her problem, too much stubborn and chatter chatter - she didn't know when to quit at times but I'd take her over Yui and Herione any other day. I do hope that the Diabolik lover copy animes stopped.
No problem! Whenever your available we can chat about animes if you'd like. Here, I can friend you if you're feeling up to it! (btw my reviews... pls don't look at them they're either overly exaggerated or cringe. pls.. ill give you a cookie)
Yo, I just found your profile through your Diabolik Lovers MORE BLOOD review. I gotta say, that shit was really funny! (And I like how you said you watched so and so on HULU lol) Now, I’ll probably try to spare you this comment and it’s like... close to being 8 AM at the time writing this (living in New York is a bitch) but I just wanted to say some things about the animes you’ve reviewed. I hope you don’t mind, thanks :)
Order according the the pictures I took cuz I’m lazy:
Happy Sugar Life:
I’m not against you for liking this anime. We’re all going to hell for watching it. It’s that simple. But Jesus Christ, I watched this anime not too long ago and I was left confused, traumatized and was like, “wtf did I just watch”. I’m not all into that psychological stuff and I watched this anime because the art is really cute and the “relationship” between Shio and that... Satou. Oh lord that Satou. Was interesting.
For me, the most on-edge thing was the relationship between Shio and Satou. Liking a child like that, instead of liking those around your age REALLY SAYS ALOT. There’s waaaaay too many problems with their relationship. The age gape, not letting Shio, a literal child enjoy the joys of life (e.g. going to school, playing on the playground, making lifelong friends) really got to me. It could really damage her future since she doesn’t know what’s out there instead of being confined in a tiny-ass apartment. Especially my boi Asahi searching for her not knowing whether she’s dead or alive. That’s honestly very terrifying. Imagine searching for your little sibling, family whoever is close to you not knowing whether they’re dead or alive because a selfish pink-haired yandere wants to experience “love”.
There’s a lot of questionable things about their relationship. Do they really love each other, or do they think they do? I don’t know anything about love but sometimes love can last for a brief period of time. So maybe they’re infatuated with each other. Either way, something about a child being manipulated and taken advantage and about to take their life at the age of eight of for a unhinged sociopath (A.K.A the sl*t Satou) puts me on edge.
P*dophiles galore this anime. I feel bad for Taiyo Mitsuboshi but he needs some help. The ending should’ve been the pedophiles including Satou (she took the easy way out instead of dealing with the consequences) but excluding Mitsuboshi, getting arrested. I say that because I don’t think Taiyo needs to be arrested. I know he’s a p*do but he’s also a rape victim, he just needs proper help and support to heal.
That’s all I have to say for this, the anime as you said is really fucked. But very interesting.
Brothers Conflict:
Didn’t watch it. But it seems like some reverse harem incestuous type shit. Interesting... I know you didn’t recommend it, but I’ll still watch it because my mentality is to finish what I start when it comes to anime. It’s probs gonna bore me, but I’ll stomach it, and let you know what’s up if you’d like. Remember: you’re not in this hell alone, we all is.
Dangaronpa The Animation:
Personally I liked the games and anime when I was younger, but I found myself not really caring about it that much. Doesn’t get me hype like that anymore. There’s this character named Chiaki Nanami and I liked her a lot when I was younger but I kinda find her a little irritating and annoying. My bad, but the animes are not bad, I don’t blame you for saying that the characters are flat in the anime. Touko and her crush Byakua are kind of annoying. Especially Byakuya’s arrogant ass just because he’s a “conglomerate” and the next heir (I think, my bad).
Overall I agree, is fun finding out who’s going to die knowing this is one of those anime’s where you shouldn’t get attached to anyone. Personally I didn’t get attached to neither, really.
Diabolik Lovers:
I’ve been waiting for this. This is straight up one of the worst reverse harems I’ve ever seen. Only ever fell for the art because I like that ombré stuff (how their hair fades into different colors). Hot fucking garbage. I couldn’t really sit through this shit. I had to look down at the comments to get a good laugh before continuing. I was not having a good time. Wasn’t for no guilty pleasure or because I was a “masochist”. Just finished what I started because I saw a little popularity in the show before viewing it.
Goddamn, easily one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I ain’t gettin’ that time back either. No character is redeemable their actions are unstable, unpredictable, unattractive and unhealthy. And the fan base is still drooling over them and justifying them for what. I’m sitting their like... “do you want them to do that to you too”? Let’s see here... so from my understanding they want a taste of the... physical, sexual, abuse and harassment. OkAy, nO PrOBleM. Hey, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger I guess. Lmao those people are crazy. Would it even be worth it?
Then, the protagonist follows the “dumb blonde” stereotype. Easily one of the worst female leads I’ve seen. So useless. There’s a lot of things that don’t make sense or is wrong with this anime, but Yui’s existence is number one. Is it also worth her life to know information? Clearly your dad abandoned you and I see why. She’s also to be a sacrificial bride and I’m surprised she’s not dead yet. You can’t really connect with her, since she has no personality.
They then also try to romanticize and normalize what they do to her on a daily basis. Like- I can’t. I just can’t. I’m sorry.
Diabolik Lovers The Goddamn Sequel:
Season two was slightly ONLY SLIGHTLY, better. I feel the same way, because they were human once I thought they would be more understanding and we would get more backstory. Plus, she only had four instead of six to deal with. Anyways, Yui was supposedly a “vampire” at the end. But now all normal? Wtf. Damn, if you’re going for a story be consistent with it!
Azusa or Asuuza (whatever his name was) was the only person who I actually liked. Didn’t call Yui names or forcefully suck her blood, was really adorable and I felt really bad that he thinks pain will make people like him.
Garbage anime. It’s been 6 years I don’t think season three is a cometh. Good. Let it all fucking burn.
Anyways, I apologize I was tired and had to rush this comment. But I think you’re really cool so I hope we can talk in the future if you’d like.
