hey guys, my name is zfg and im from texas. ive been a long time fan of anime and manga since my friend in fourth grade, or 2014 for reference, recommended me the naruto series (since he was caught up to the latest volume, which at the time seemed like a monumental accomplishment). i bought a couple volumes physically and even purchased a crunchyroll subscription to watch the anime. that led to on-and-off phases regarding my involvement with the japanese medium. in sixth and seventh grade, the first years of my middle school experience, i didnt watch much anime or read much manga, as i had played a lot more games like Destiny 2, DBZ Dokkan Battle/Xenoverse, etc.. i did, however, watch the shounen stuff my friends were into at the time, like seven deadly sins and whatnot. around 8th grade i started watching a lot more anime, like SAO, Re:Zero, Golden Time, and the like. I also read my first manga to the latest chapter, Domestic Girlfriend, which I followed to the shitty end (lol T_T). Over the summer between 8th and 9th grade, I read all of one piece, hence solifying my high-volume manga career. 9th grade was the same as 8th, minus new series like jojo, quintessential quintuplets, etc. in sophomore year, in order to treat my depression, which was falsely labelled as schizoaffective on my first time visit, i was placed on a path where over the next five or so years, i would be prescribed over 20 psychiatric medications, including antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, ssris, snris, etc. These medication, specifically the antipsychotics, build barriers over your neurotransmitter receptors in order to block dopamine or serotonin from getting in, as an excess of those chemicals causes the positive symptoms of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, yet also isolates and exacerbates the negative symptoms, such as flat mood, little to no emotion, feeling dissociated from real, and social isolation. these factors caused me to transition to NEEThood for the next few years, where i really started dedicating myself to anilist, and eventually mal. now in college, i still dont socialize much, but my medications are in a better place, im an econ student in my second year, and i like to listen to music, read, write, and study in my free time.
now to explain my list and how it operates. my anime list is not public to strangers or friends, as i need to clean up like 800 entries before i consider it optimal enough to be viewed by others. with my manga list, it is fully public, and i am essentially doing the same clean-out process. my "reading" list is for series i have made some progress on but have not completed, whether im working on it or not. my "completed" list is, as the name suggests, for completed entries. I plan on reviewing this list occasionally and completing all related entries. my "on-hold" list is for entries i am caught up to, awaiting new releases. "dropped" is similar, as i track the releases for these entries, although it lacks the aspect of me having made progress on the series. it is a category specifically for entries im waiting to be localized and actively tracking, hence it being similar to "paused". my "planning" is a mess, as i tried to add every entry in the database to it. now, i am deleting every entry in my planning. after that, i will most likely post a comment on my profile detailing my plans to expand that section going forward.
