Not a native Eng speaker, but I'm always willing to learn.
I'm a fan of Kyoto Animation, especially into its female staff, Hisako Yamada as the storyboard artist and Reiko Yoshida as the scriptwriter (but strictly Reiko is not an employee of Kyoani).
I like stories with depth and heart pounding strength (Mushishi, NTHT, PLANETES), however, in the meantime, I don't hate the tea party queens in K-on, the querulous smartass Koyomi Araragi, the alien mannered girl Nino under the bridge Arakawa..etc.& etc.. As long as they are doing the right thing, by right, I mean to act logically under the world setting that is given. That's why I rate Gakkougurashi a 3: too much schoolgirl moe appeal for a zombie world, and I really can't stand that.
Howeverever, I'm more of romanticism than realism, as long as my bottom line remains intact.
Favorite directors: Satoshi Kon, Akiyuki Shinbou, Hiroyuki Imaishi, Mamoru Hosoda, Hayao Miyazaki

Anyway, my current favourite guy is Yutaro Kubo. All his stuff is on his website.
There's also the works of Kato Kunio, Mirai Mizue (especially his magnum opus Wonder (search youtube "mirai mizue wonder" - it's the first result)), Ishida Hiroyasu (Rain Town is his best imo), Yamamura Koji.
Plus, a few other random shorts, just in case I wasn't giving you enough to watch...
Noiseman Sound Insect, Aquatic Language, Dimension Loop, Airy Me, Nihonbashi Koukashita R Keikaku, Superflat Monogram.
Sorry, I got a bit carried away. I just thought I'd give you some variety. Let me know what you think!
By the way I sent you a friend request. I hope that's ok!
But anyway, just wanted to say that. Please do more reviews. Based on your one and only review - I like the way you write.
