I don't update my list that often, especially # of ep. watched, until the end of the show. Used to binge anime religiously, but now I just watch whatever I like atm, ongoing or not. ________________________________________________________________ Anime Milestone: 600th - Oregairu S3 ________________________________________________________________ My Ratings I have a very skewed ratings that I created when I first joined MAL. Even if I now know it's not a good system, it's too late to go back and change 400+ items in my list. So I'll explain them here: 10 - The exceptional stuff. Almost perfect, always outstanding when compared to others. 9 - Very enjoyable and nicely done, usually when one aspect of the anime is outstanding. 8 - Decent stuff. This score is also for seasonal anime that managed to outdone its expectation. 7 - The ok shows in every season. They aren't good but not too bad either, watching them can be worth something. 6 - Pretty meh. They're somewhat boring but still watchable. 5 - Anime in this score range has some sort of major flaw which makes the show barely watchable. 4 and below - Too many flaws alongside with either a boring or generic aspect. Not worth the time. - 1/15/2022 ________________________________________________________________ These are a few years old, might be outdated. (questions I got from online, will link sources): 1. List all the anime that you're familiar with (meaning you've seen at least a bunch of the episodes and you know the story and characters fairly well). - Check my completed MAL list. 2. Out of those, list your favorites (doesn't have to be in order). - Usually they're listed under my Favorite section, but a few more I like would also be Re:ZERO, Clannad, Angle Beats!, GATE: Jieitai, Overlord, Psycho-Pass, the Monogatari series (I'm still behind on it though), and Utawarerumono series. 3. What was the first anime you ever watched, when did you first watch it, and what was your first impression? - I love shoujo-esque stuff back then (not too big of a fan anymore now), and the first anime I ever watch (aside from Studio Ghibli films) is Say I love You, also known as Suki-tte ii na yo. Watched it back in Winter 2013 as my friend recommended, and I was very much obsessed with it and the shoujo genre for some time :D 4. List some of the manga you're familiar with. - The World God Only Knows and Nisekoi are two of the few manga that are quite long but I actually finished till the end. I don't usually pick up long manga that has a few hundreds chapters ongoing, but that's an exception to those two and some others that I can't pull out on top of my head. Oyasumi Punpun is another manga that is short but amazing in term of the slice-of-life and realistic situations, super recommended if you want to look back in life, both the past and future. Few of the most hilarious manga I just found recently are Yuusha ga Shinda!: Murabito no Ore ga Hotta Otoshiana ni Yuusha ga Ochita Kekka and Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen. 5. What type of anime usually interests you? - I can watch anything, but fantasy, crossovers, time-travel, and worlds-jumping is a few of my favorite criteria. I don't care how these elements are build into the anime, as long as it has them I'm honestly fine with it. Action and animation quality are also a few things commonly found in anime I like. 6. What type of anime least interests you? - For someone super generic like me there isn't much that I dislike, but usually it's either yaoi (not the fangirl yaoi), extreme yuri (like, extreme), and historical (unless it's paired with some other tags). Also, anime that has terrible story/animation is something that trigger me or make me feel sleepy a lot. 7. What, in your opinion, do you think is the most important factor in an anime? (popularity, animation quality, characters, story, having everything revolve around a cool game/toys/robots, etc). - To me, animation quality, characters, and story are some of the top criteria I look for in anime. It's always enjoyable watching an intense-action show like Fate/Stay Night by ufotable and witness their heavenly animation. Character developments let me see the connection between people and how they act upon that, and see the outcome being affected by what they dealt with. I like interesting stories, especially dem plot twists xD 8. Which do you generally like better, anime or manga? - Anime definitely, mostly because they're easy to complete. I like the quality of manga better however; they give me the comedy and freedom to go at my own pace, something can't be compare to anime. But anime bring everything to life and also save time (since I can get lost into a manga, as in not able to stop reading), and I would rather watch an anime adaptation of a story first and read the manga version later, if any, and pick off where the anime ended. 9. Which do you usually prefer, dub or sub? - Sub all the way, I like to hear the native pronuncination of Japanese which is synced much better. Also, the dub version always sounds too much like something from a Western cartoon to me, so it felt really different. 10. List some of your favorite Japanese voice actors and some characters that they play. - I actually don't mind much about voice actors/actresses, any is fine as long as they fit the character's role. So yep, no favorites here. 11. List some of your favorite English dub voice actors and some characters that they play. - Like the above, none, and with dub, possibly 0. 12. Which anime do you think has the worst English dub? And the best? - Can't comment on this since I haven't even watch any dub version of any anime so far... 13. List some anime that you don't like. - They can be usually found in my Dropped list, but I can tell you that the first anime I ever dropped is Captain Earth due to the plot being all over the place. Nice animation, but terrible story. I have high hope for Glasslip but it turned out to be very plain and generic... I didn't like it at all and can see the drama from miles away... Some others are dropped due to being either too long or me not liking an element of them. 14. Have you ever tried to get someone interested in anime, even though that person knew nothing about anime? - Not really, most of the people I met are those who know about anime, but just don't watch as much as me. There are from time to time, some that know about it but haven't watch any. Still, I would recommend to them my favorites and those tearjerkers (as they're the one that hook me on anime), and if they decline, I would respect their decision. 15. Did it work? - Usually I really respect if they want more or if they don't, and if it's the latter I would drop the topic completely. Sometimes I met some people who really love the ones I recommended, and that make me glad that they enjoy them :) 16. List some of your most favorite anime characters and the anime they're from. - This is also in my Favorites section: Sora from No Game No Life for being badass, Kyon from the Melancholy of Suzumiya because he always have something to comment on anything, Hikigaya from Oregairu for being the one that think differently, Saber maybe because she's best grill? (note that I don't have a "my waifu" list lol), Aoi Asahina from Danganronpa for being so positive, and Shinomiya from Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen for being such a dangerous tsun xD 17. List some of your least favorite anime characters and which anime they're from. - Surprisingly none, since I don't have any that I hate deeply. Most of the time it would be your typical villian from shows to shows, or when your main character let you down so often (take Subaru from Re:ZERO for example). 18. List some of your favorite "non-human"(animal-like) anime characters and the anime they're from. - Still Pikachu :D Oh, and Ekubo (that floating monster) from Mob Psycho 100! 19. List some of your favorite Japanese video games. - I love RPG Maker games to death, especially the horror genre. My all-time favorites are The Witches' House, Blank Dream, Mad Father, and Misao. I don't usually play Visual Novels but rather watching them from different Youtubers. Some that I watched the full gameplay are Tokyo School Life, Nekopara Vol. 1 and 2, Malus Code, some Sakura games, Go Go Nippon 2015, Fairy Fencer F, and Akiba's Trip. Since I don't own any consoles, these are mostly the Japanese games I'm familiar with... Wait did I said I also freaking love Super Smash Bros.? Love that game a lot too while not so mechanical myself. 20. List some of your favorite anime songs and the anime they're from. - I love Hiroyuki Sawano's music! I don't necessarily have any favorite songs from him, but to name a few would be Alive, e of s, mio MARE, Because of you, Sophisticated Love, OMAKE-SUITE Wild War Dance, In the forest, The Moment of Dreams, and Secret Weakness. Most of these are from actual Japanese movies/TV shows that I haven't watch, but I still love his music! Some anime songs I like are Zetsubousei: Hero Chiryouyaku and Never Say Never from Danganronpa S1, Real and Bios from Guilty Crown, and No differences from Aldnoah.Zero. Some of my other top artists are Yuki Hayashi because he composed a tons of nice soundtracks in similar fashion to Sawano, Itou Kanako because she sang really nice VN theme songs, S3RL who made many EDM stuff, FELT for their superb Touhou albums, Reol for those upbeat songs, and nano because she sang some of my favorite anime tracks. 21. List some of your favorite anime couples and which anime they're from. - Toradora!'s Taiga and Ryuuji is my favorite, I ship them so hard xD That and Tanaka and Shiraishi from Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge, no other pairs reallty come up in my mind right now... Oh, also I'm a #TeamChitoge, sorry guys~ 22. Which anime have you rewatch or would want to rewatch? - To this day, none at all. But if I ever have time to rewatch an anime (there's so many shows I still haven't complete), it would be The World God Only Knows, one of the first few anime I watched and also one of my favorites all-time :D 23. What is your favorite anime quote and who says it? - Shirou's legendary quote, "People died if they are killed..." .. Seriously though, none that I can remember. Quotes don't stand out too much for me, unless I search around in the Wikia bases... 24. List some of your favorite anime movies. - Used to be super scared of Spirited Away, but now it becomes one of my favorite movie and also served as something that led me to be an anime fan today. I don't usually see a lot of impressive anime movies, since most of the ones I watched are either compilation of a long-running anime season or just not that great. Still, some of my favorites are Summer Wars, the Persona 3 movie series, Psycho-Pass Movie, Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda, and Bakemono no Ko. 25. What is your most favorite anime of all, and why is it your favorite? - This will be a split between No Game No Life and the Fate series. For NGNL, I already read ahead some of the light novels just wanting to know what happen next. The story itself is both fun and full with plot twists (for me anyway), and the fact that these two siblings crossed into some other fantasy world matched perfectly to what I like seeing in anime. the Fate series on the other hand is bery serious, and what pulled me in the most is the concept of the Holy Grail Wars, where past heroes fight till a victor emerges. I love crossover stuff just as much as the crossing-worlds/time-travel element, and using real heroes to fight certainly hook me on the series (also ufotable's animation is just godly). 26. Which anime haven't you watched but would like to? - Anything not on my completed list; I have a separate list of shows I want to watch, numbered above 300 in total. Fun Fact: I haven't watch most of the anime considered to be "exceptional" either, like Full Metal Alchemist, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, etc. I guess it wil be a while until I watch them, as currently I'm still more of a seasonal guy...
