Have you successfully caught up with everything?
First of all: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I'm doing good, just a little busy, which is why I haven't been able to watch much lately. But I am determined to watch the new adaptation of Fruits Basket next year. It's the series that got me started with anime, and I kinda feel like...this closes the cycle for me? xD
Do you have anything you're looking forward to in the new year?
I am not quite sure about what I want to do in the future yet, I guess it depends on the available opportunities after I finish my master degree.
So you get to say who gets the money and who not - that sounds absolutely amazing :D More than that, you even get to decide on what's going to air on tv and stuff! (I've always wondered who the hell decided to put all those reality soaps on German tv =.=)
The anime story is the same as in the manga - it's just that the anime only covers the material up to ch30 or something. The more mysterious and dramatic stuff happens later (as if the first 30 chapters weren't dramatic enough already with all those deaths) XD Unfortunately the two on my profile pic only appear for like 5 minutes in the entire anime (there's a 5min BD special episode about them, though). But yes, I absolutely love Ymir and Christa :D
You're not alone, I think I've almost only watched light-hearted and subtext-y stuff this year xD After all, having fun is all that matters, right? For instance, I tried to watch Psycho-Pass (because it's said to be deep etc.) but simply couldn't bring myself to continue with it because it made me feel nauseous. I think as long as you enjoy something, there's nothing to regret :D
So, have you taken a look at the winter 2014 chart yet? It's going to be a legendary season!
I study mathematics xD Some lectures are very tedious, but luckily, the lectures I'm taking this semester are pretty fun. I dunno if I've asked you this (I suppose I have, but I don't remember the answer anymore), but what did you study at university? Was it something art-related? (And if yes, is your work also related to art? :D)
Eh, good anime this year...Tbh, I didn't watch a lot of series this year (compared to the last two years)...for example, I'm not watching anything from the current fall season.
My favorites were SnK and Kiniro Mosaic. The SnK anime dragged a little from episode 10 onwards; I guess it's normal since they had to decide on what they wanted to cover from the manga and where to end it. Still, the pseudo-philosophic dialogues got a bit repetitive. I'd recommend the manga anyway - the art isn't the best, but the story's getting more and more complicated there and two (yuri?) side characters play a major role XD (<-- I've been obsessing about them for several months now)
As for Kiniro Mosaic: It's a very cute slice of life. And it's yuri-ness is skyrocketing!
Hm. I should really do something about my yuri obsession XD
How did you like KyoAni's Free?
I'm doing fine, the same as always, a little busy with uni and stuff. What about you? :D
I see you've started FREE! XD How is it? I listened to the ED and it's very catchy!
Long time no see, kiz-chan! How are you doing?
But perhaps I'm just missing something important here. I'm not really paying much attention to the anime I watch these days XDDDD
Wakana's mother is...a ubermensch? XD I don't know, I admire people who love music so much, but at the same time, they are so far away from "my" reality that I can't relate to them at all. But I did feel for Wakana and I liked the execution very much. I think a lot of series would've switched to drama overdrive so I like the calm and unspectacular way Tari Tari deals with "drama".
Half of the fall season has passed, what are your mid-season verdicts? :D
Seriously, series like Symphogear get a sequel while Nichijou doesn't (I'm kind of butthurt XD). I just hope that gems like Jinrui will get a sequel now as well, otherwise the world is going to be doomed XD
I'm planning to start Rinne 2 soon ~ I've pretty much finished all the series on my list, so my fall season is going to be filled with Hidamari (the first episode was so warm and fuzzy, I'm already loving it), Rinne and Suite Precure (I want to finish it, even if it kills me...! XD)
I still can't get over the fact that this is really happening. Another season of Hibiki and her emo friends. I'm in denial, lol XD
I don't remember the manga ending very clearly, but I don't think that so many people got killed, neither do I remember the kids losing their minds and killing each other. Akazawa did turn a little psycho in the manga, but the anime was kind of intense because other people turned psycho as well. Perhaps the anime followed the novel? Both anime and manga are based on the novel anyway XD
I'd start with Yuru Yuri, then XD If you're watching it along with NY and MP, then YY might be a nice change of pace, because HS is similarly gentle like NY (but nowhere as emotional and bittersweet as NY).
I see you've started Rinne S2! How is it?
The main question is: How much time do you want to invest?
Hidamari Sketch has 3 seasons and I have to admit that it only "clicked" with me after I started the 3rd season. The previous 2 seasons were pleasant, but pretty much as slice-of-life-ish as a slice-of-life series can be. They laid the foundation for the third season and I can't even tell what it was that suddenly made me fall in love with the entire series. Anyway, what I want to say is: If you decide to watch Hidamari, be patient and don't drop it halfway through XD
Yuru Yuri is a little shorter and different because it's more comedy than slice-of-life. IMO, the 2nd season is superior to the prequel XD The prequel was more like an introduction, it repeated a lot of jokes and -blame the manga maniac in me- unfortunately chose to animate the manga chapters out of order (even adding anime-original stuff) towards the end of the series so that it cut the screentime of some characters and increased the screentime of a certain blonde...In a nutshell: Don't drop it if you disliked the 1st season, the 2nd season could be more to your liking XD And besides, it has more yuri thn Hidamari Sketch XD
Of course, I'm not implying that you're gonna feel the same way about the prequels and sequels. Perhaps you're even gonna like them more XD Just my two cents. So in the end, I can't give you a definite answer but I think you should decide based on how much free time you have and whether you feel like watching something calm (Hidamari) or turbulent (Yuru) XD
I think the entire horror genre is more about shock value than smart and reasonable plots. It's purpose is to scare people and in case they mess uo to plot, they can still fall back on the "but it's supernatural, so it defies human logic" excuse XD (Okay, I admit, I have no right to be saying that since have watched close to zero horror moves~)
