While my manga stats of reading/plan to read/on-hold/dropped are accurate, my anime stats under the dropped category is not. Anime listed as 'dropped' are anime I have started and for various reasons dislike. However, they're technically more on-hold anime than animes I have officially dropped (now tagged as "previously dropped"). This is because I intend to watch all of the anime on my lists even if they are simply animes I watch in the background (tagged as "background anime").

I rate things according to my enjoyment level of the series. As I read/watch the series I do apply critical thinking regarding their social impact, whether or not it is appropriate for its intended audience, the message(s) it imparts and lessons it teaches, etc. However, even if the series has a good message or intent, if I don't feel it is executed well and it doesn't spark true interest in me, doesn't emotionally connect with me in some way or simply doesn't appeal on some other level, I'm not going to give the series a good rating.
Further, I don't care how good the series may actually be; if the art style of the animation or manga doesn't appeal to me then I will not read/watch it.
