I love shows with fantastical creatures, odd story lines, nifty art, and engaging characters.
Just want to keep track of what I've seen and what I want to watch soon. There's so much good animation out there! I watch western cartoons as well but lately I haven't been seeing much new stuff I've wanted to watch.
I'm still working on adding everything I've seen too my list. Been watching anime since I was a kid thanks to nerdy parents so it's hard to remember it all.
I have a habit of going awol when it comes to any communication that's not face to face but I do enjoy talking with people every now and then so feel free to reach out.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions, always looking for worlds to escape into. :^)

Thanks! It's been a good season. I've been visiting my siblings and cousins. I got some nice shirts and ties from them which was a pleasent surprise. Did you receive anything nice for Christmas? I cooked a lot for my family so we definitely eating tasty food lol. I hope you were able to as well. It was a warmer Christmas for us too but it's been getting down to the 30's-40's at night so hopefully it's getting colder. Although being near lakes it's surprising it was 50 degrees for you. I hope you can see the snow that you want this season. I don't know if we will have any but maybe during January or February.
I like your idea with them not ascending or being damned. Makes it interesting to wonder why they understand their purpose. I just love a story that gives me a lot of questions. Over the Garden Wall sounds really familiar and looks familiar when I looked it up but I don't believe I watched it before. What is it about?
Oh wow I love your interpretation of the town. I do wonder if they are even on earth or it's a separate place for purgatory. I can see the townspeople not really existing and just being a stand in for the haibane to work through what is keeping them from moving on. I imagined them all knowing about the haibane and their purpose in helping them move on but the idea of them just being fixtures of the world is a new perspective and I'm definitely interested in it.
I did love that part with Rakka breaking her cycle of sin. I could 100% relate with how Reki tried to hide her pain from the other haibane because of her depression and how that just spiraled her into a place where she wouldn't be able to forgive herself until Rakka was there for her. This show did a great job depicting the kind of feeling that sometimes you don't want to recognize. I also liked how they depicted loss with Kuu's flight and how that effected everyone especially Rakka. The characters felt so real which is why I love this anime so much.
I hope you are able to get your roommates to watch it! I think they would like it since they could connect some of the themes from the show with religion. Happy solstice as well. Thanks! It hasn't been too cold thankfully but I prefer the cold for the holiday season. I hope you are able to keep warm even though it's really cold where you're at. I really enjoy talking with you about haibane renmai. I love your perspective on the story and hearing how you connect to it! Especially since how much I connected with it as well.
I'm really glad you liked it since it's one of my favorites! That's exactly how I felt about it. I love anime that deals with how characters process their emotions, especially when those characters have flaws. They do just hit so much harder. I really liked how they didn't explain too much and left a bunch to interpretation. I think the townspeople are meant to guide the haibane. They treat the haibane well but also allow the haibane to help them. I think they let the haibane figure out more about themselves with their work. We kinda see it with Nemu and Kana with how their jobs allow them to reflect upon themselves. It is interesting how they can't go past the walls but I suppose thats part of the mystery that makes this show so great.
Who was your favorite character? I really liked Reki especially with her character arc at the end. Even though she was the most experience haibane she had a lot of imperfections that made her feel real.
So, just read the non-anime animation part of your profile. I see you listed Secret of Kells & Song of the Sea and was wondering if you’d seen Wolf Walkers (the 3 of them are on a bluray collection called The Irish Folklore Trilogy I bought last year).
Hey! I watched A Letter to Momo and it really is heartwarming. I didn't mind the movie being long since they had a lot of scenes that helped lead to the climax of the film. I really liked the animation style too. They really made the reactions and facial expressions seem more realistic. I definitely enjoyed the movie.
I saw you just finished Haibane Renmei. How did you like it? I watched it last month and it became one of my favorites. I just loved the atmosphere it gave off and the characters were great.
Interesting, I should finish the series before that movie comes out then. I've seen like the first 2 episodes and I really liked how weird it is.
Oh wow, glad to hear you are enjoying it! Lol there are definitely episodes more dialogue heavy than others but yeah the beginning of the series has a lot. I really wanted Nanami to go with them as well. Seems like her brother needs her more than the other way around lol. I'm happy to hear your thoughts as you are going through it! I'll watch A Letter to Momo soon and let you know how I like it.
Great! Looking forward to hearing your opinion on it. I'll probably watch rebellion soon then since I loved the main series so much.
Those sounds really interesting. I do like surrealist stories and the art style of Kaiba looks pretty unique. Letter to Momo looks nice as well and I love heart warming stories so I might check that out soon since I'm not actually watching anything at the moment. I was gonna say Dorohedoro has a gritty look to it lol but it looks like a fun show. I saw you also have Mononoke as a favorite as well. I do need to finish that since i had started it but didn't finish it. It has such a interesting feel to it's style. Nothing like i've seen before.
I'm excited for the movie as well! I still need to see rebellion sometime before that though. Yes I love Yotsuba To! I'm really glad you like it too. It's such a feel good manga. If you do check out Katanagatari let me know what you think about it. It is one that even though I love I'm hesitant to recommend since it is dialogue heavy and the episodes are double length. The art style is really unique and the story is done well so it has a special place on my list.
Do you have any particular favorite of your favorites? I've actually never heard of Kaiba or Momo e no Tegami but they look like they deal with a bit of mystery which is something I like. I've heard of the title Dorohedoro but know nothing about it either.
