I personally find trying to quantify how good a show is by breaking down the story, art, characters, and sound separately for a conglomerate score is completely missing the point, a show can have terrible visuals and still be a 10/10 masterpiece on the strength of its characters for instance. Basically, all that matters is how much enjoyment you get out of a show. The problem is that different people find different things enjoyable, so if we disagree, I'd love to hear why because I love to hear other perspectives, but we may just have to agree to disagree.
Here's basically how my score system works:
10/10 Genuine contender for my favorite anime of all time
9/10 Still pretty freaking amazing. Either didn't appeal to me personally at the same level as a 10, or it had some small but noticeable flaw holding it back
8/10 Shows that still managed to impress me in some notable way, but either didn't reach the heights of a 9, or has more flaws that are harder to ignore
7/10 Shows that I generally enjoyed but don't have any strong feelings about
6/10 Very mixed thoughts, but had a slight positive overall opinion of
5/10 Very mixed thoughts, but had a slight negative overall opinion of
4/10 These shows didn't offend me in any particular way, but they did bore me and if I could go back and stop myself from watching them, I would
3/10 At least one major part of the show actively annoyed me.
2/10 One of the worst pieces of media I've ever consumed (anime or otherwise), the entire show was either poorly made or deeply offensive
1/10 Just don't even ask, hated it so much I never want to think about it again
Hope that makes sense. Feel free to contact me via message or comment if you have suggestions for shows you think I might like, or just have thoughts on anime in general (I eat that stuff up). As long as you keep it civil, I'll talk to anyone, so don't be shy!
