Aight so i saw ur haikyuu review and u can probably guess what is going to happen now.. Yes i am going to flame you. Nah jk but since it is my fav anime i just kinda feel like i have to say something. Scores are obv opinions so you giving it a 5/10 is your choice and i cant do anything against that or flame you because of that but there some things you said in your review that kinda annoyed me.
First giving the story a 3/10 because its predictable. I mean i guess i kinda understand that. But it is a sports anime about a specific team so there not lots of choices. They either win or they lose and furudate tried to make it not too predictable by letting them lose to seijoh. And as someone that read the manga i can tell u there is something that i did not expect at all. Later in the series they also change up players sometimes to make it not too predictable. Its not really about winning or losing its more about how they win or lose.
Giving the art an 8 and the sound a 7. This is really your choice. It is a anime with some of my fav soundtracks and openings but for u it might be different. You cant really argue about that stuff.
Giving the characters a 3 really confused me. If you ask haikyuu fans what their fav thing about the anime is a lot of people are going to tell u that they love the characters. I think the reason why u think there isnt much character growth is because u didnt watch the next seasons. The 2nd season is based around the character growths + in season 4 hinata grows insanley. Every single important character in this anime is different and all of them are likeable. Every characters has his issues and strengts. Kageyama as example is a insanley talented player but is terrible in communicating with other people and and has trouble to understand other peoples feelings. He does not care how you feel or what u want he is going the play the best move in his opinion. But later he grows. He starts to not give the overall best set but he gives a set the spiker prefers. I just cant agree with saying they are generic and you see these characters all the time. Especially a character like oikawa who is very important in the whole franchise.
The last thing i wanna talk about is this sentence "Its even more sad that i found myself saying why can't that team be the team we are following instead of Karasuno" Does this not mean that the characters overall are good? I enjoy an anime much more if there lots of characters that i like instead of only the main character and maybe 1 other character. A lot of haikyuu fans will agree with you because theres not just the main team that gets his screentime. Everytime theres a game 1 team will win and the other team will lose. And haikyuu is showing the losers aswell. You see how the enemy team is sad and upset that they lost just like the main team is and that will make you feel bad for them aswell. There is not a single team in whole of haikyuu that i dislike. Every team has likable characters and theres no character i hate. One of the reasons is because these teams get quite a lot of screentime aswell. Especially nekoma and seijoh. Both of these teams were teams a lot of people loved and a lot of people would like to follow them aswell. instead of karasuno and these teams will get a lot more screentime in the future aswell since lots of people like them.
Idk if you read all of that if u did uh thanks i guess and if not thats also fine. You can obv respond to this but i think we would not really come to a conclusion since were still talking about opinions. If u want to give the franchise another shot then watch the next seasons. The 2nd season is my fav season overall since it has a lot of new characters and lots of character grow in that season. The highest rated season is the 3rd season tho which is also fantastic. Its kinda like the bossfight in a game.
