Here are some of my opinions about anime and the anime community:
- The Boruto series smears Naruto's legacy. Naruto ended after Shippuden for me. Boruto is just filler.
- Kakashi unleashing all of his jutsus during the war had the potential to be one of the best scenes in all of anime. Missed opportunity.
- What is up with Japan's obsession with the isekai trope? Why are anime creators so stuck on having a protagonist from a different world? A majority of isekai plots would be none the wiser if their protagonists had already existed in that alternate reality.
- The isekai genre is mixed with an overgrowth of generic titles that are somehow green-lit every season. Series with Kirito look-alikes, born into a different world with OP powers, a sudden attraction towards incel MCs, etc. To name a few: Arifureta, Conception, Death March, Iseleve, My Isekai Life, Smartphone...the list goes on. Few titles are actually decent.
- The use of big oppai-ed and loli characters is trite. Kinda goes hand-in-hand with generic isekai plots.
- Blue Lock is the MOST mid sports anime. There are countless sports anime that are more riveting and actually have a story to tell. Every anime has a plot but not all have a story. Blue Lock is an inferior rip off of Kuroko no Basket; which doesn't say much...
- Seven Deadly Sins' Seven Deadly Sins:
- Power scaling was confusing and questionable.
- Studio Deen deserves a thumbs down.
- The color scheme of King's wings was maddening.
- Escanor vs Meliodas' animation was blasphemy.
- Anticlimactic time-skips.
- The Chaos arc was boring and unnecessary.
- The Supreme Deity's involvement in the curse was, for some reason, pardoned. Her collaboration was half the reason for the catalyst of the whole story. Her appearance would have made for a far better finale.
- Kingdom is one of the most slept on series.
- Highschool of the Dead has one of the best introductions. The suspense and gravity of chaos that ensues in the first episode and for being one of the first anime that I have ever watched, paved the way for this show to hold a special place in my heart. The hate that this show gets stems from the overuse of fan service, which I understand. Aside from that, the story needs credit where credit is due. I will forever be bitter about High School of Dead being discontinued due to the author's passing. RIP.
- Solo Leveling was about as generic as you can get for a story. Apart from its visually appealing characters and fireballs and lightning spears, not much is afforded to it's mundane storyline. I'd go as far as to say that this narrative is the most "hyped up for no reason" story of the decade. Truly a let down.
