essential post-Aum manga that explores the human side of the violent cult. It depicts the extremism of Aum/JRA pretty nicely while adding in the primal aspect of their practices. I like how it shows the positive side of joining the cult: escaping society. It starts from admiring the ocean view, enjoying some clams, and ends with sex 24/7 lmao.
The characters/plot are pretty strong, but I couldn't completely immerse myself into the story because I was reading it with the intention to study, trying to figure out all the parallels it's making to the real cults. I think I would've enjoyed more if I went into it blind. Though I did understand the ending a little better because I read about Aum beforehand, so that's nice.
I guess the only issue is how sparse it feels sometimes. The somewhat meta ending didn't help with that lol. Overall a very good read. 7-8/10
last read this in 2019, decided to finish it because of the memes and nostalgia. Up until the arc when all might loses his powers, it was a pretty good battle shounen with great worldbuilding, creative powers, and fun battles. But after that arc it got worse and worse until it just became generic battle shounen slop with the final war arc. There's too many throwaway characters, the plot's spread thin asf, and worst of all are the boring battles that don't focus on the quirks anymore (just like most jump battle manga).
It's a shame because the premise is amazing. Season 1 of the anime is peak shounen, can't believe it's been 8 years T_T
I did make Youtube videos a long time ago when I was young. I've considered doing some more recently but I'm super busy with work and college right now so I'll just have to see. I'll let you know if anything comes to fruition though.

Just wanted to thank you for the insightful and interesting review of "Sayounara Minasan", it helps explain a lot of the "plot points" and makes for an interesting read.
I'll be sure to check your videos as well for more interesting titles.
Once again, thank you!
