Wow, it had been almost a month.

Where did you get so much time from? Didn't you have school or university or work? But now I see why you managed to complete so many shows in such a short amount of time.
Sometimes I also watch a series in one or two days. I am addicted to binge watching; once I watched D.Gray-man for a week non-stop but I am terrified to even think about that now. I think all of it was a waste of time.

Yes, I also google my questions because my teachers never give me satisfying answers.
I am glad to know there are people who learn by themselves just like me. The school system is trash.

Since you learn Chinese and know some things about the Chinese culture, could you please explain why Quan Zhi Gao Shou exists? I mean, it is entirely about a computer game and about full-time gamers, but aren't the Chinese young people supposed to always study? I know Chinese students and know that this is not a stereotype.

Haha, it is funny that you don't even want to change. Is it the final stage of your conversion into an otaku? ^^

I dunno, I watched Code Geass in dub and got a perfect score on the TOEFL listening part. But if you never watch dubbed anime then maybe you should be slightly worried. Anyways, I am sure you will be fine. Good luck!

Is Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso really that good and inspiring?

ACCA's opening is a masterpiece among openings. Kuzu no Honkai had a nice art but it was way too lewd and unbearable to watch because of the plot.

Well, I think Arabic and the likes (including Chinese and Japanese) beat Indo-European languages, no matter if they are Roman or Slavic. Japanese native speakers have to learn a lot of characters, Arabic script excludes vowels and it has a lot of dialects.

And you managed to watch so much in such little time? Up until recently I had been spending all of my free time on anime, and still I hadn't watched nearly as much as you.

That's very persistent of you. I wouldn't go as far as to watch every single show even though I too value good series. After all, I can use reviews or other people's recommendations.
I think your memory just gets used to remembering anime/manga- related things. Also, it is easier to memorize when your mind is not stiff, and this is why it is harder to remember material taught at school (because you are too focused on the fact that you must learn). I hate school so much, I can barely force myself to sit through classes, let alone learn something. Then I just study the school program by myself during free time at my own pace, and get high results because when I learn that way, I am relaxed and enjoy it nearly as much as a good book or an anime series.

Yes, I see that you easily give 10s. However, I can understand why you rated high some of the series I even regretted watching.

Haha, I agree, you must be an otaku if those are your only form of entertainment. But if you are young, you may have a chance for redemption once you become too busy or find new hobbies.
I think your English is excellent, I wouldn't have imagined you might have any problems with it. How come you developed such good writing skills without any practice in listening?

Yes, try watching that season raw. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I have some Japanese textbooks, and simply browsing through them makes my head ache. But Japanese or not, it is nice to know that someone else is self-studying languages.

I feel you, right now, I listen only to anime OP/ED/OSTs. But in general, I listen to different genres. Most of the English songs I listen to are from AMVs too and I wonder if I have grown to like them solely because of those AMVs.
Come to think of it, I have always been starting new languages only because of music.
I liked the Reikenzan Japanese OP song.

Just look at all those complains about their difficulty all over the internet. Even as native speakers, we had two separate classes: Russian Literature and Russian Language, which was basically eleven years of learning orthography. Thankfully, I had a natural talent for writing without mistakes, but I was more of an exception.

Well, since I have been into anime for only about three years, I am not that biased. I think it is easier to find good Japanese anime/manga because the Japanese simply produce more of them and they have more experience too.
Wait, if you are reluctant to start anything non-Japanese, why do you watch Chinese anime?
By the way, nice profile picture. Accelerator is one of my favourite characters too.

Yes, I see that you watch a lot of shows at once. Don't they get mixed up in your head? And aren't most of them easily forgettable?

I don't mind English dub. I started watching anime to improve my accent before the TOEFL, and even now I try to watch dubbed versions so that I can tell myself that I am not just wasting time, but also improving my English (which is a lie.)

Ah, I see. But they constantly mention how much Ouriko has improved even though it is supposed to be hard with his base. And they never show him training in the second season so I wonder if he uses that technique too.

I watched the Huyao opening, it looks violent enough, so I will give it a try.

It doesn't matter to me if you were forced or not, I am content just with the fact that you also self-study languages. You will now serve as motivation for me.
I had a similar situation- I studied a language at school I didn't care much about, but it would be a shame to simply quit half-way through and waste all the time I sacrificed.
Well, that language I learned was an Asian one, and it has a similar sentence structure and general logic as Japanese, though of course that language does not use characters, which I think are the hardest to master, just like you described it. At the same time, Japanese does not have cases and many other things that exist in Indo-European or Turkic languages.
Chinese has tones and that annoying "sh" sound though.
Haha, that's true, it is all about the willpower.

It's interesting how we both don't particularly like our native languages.
So do you mean you listen to Japanese music?
As for grammar rules, Italian has more of them than French, but less than German or Russian, which is fine by me.
-Armageddon- Mar 1, 2017 7:42 PM
Well, if it is hard to find, then people can't learn about it and so the series can't become popular. This must be like a vicious circle, which probably arises from the fact that the series is Chinese (though I don't see that big of a difference between the Japanese, the Korean, and the Chinese visual productions.) But since Reikenzan got the second season I guess it was popular in China.
Do you watch Reikenzan raw? Since english subs come out late and on different dates, I watch it in the terrible Russian one voice fan dub (which comes out even earlier than the Japanese raw episode.) But that voice is so annoying, I don't know why I torture myself that much :/ though I remember when I was a child I watched many Disney movies in one voice dub and didn't mind it at all.
By the way, I still do not get it, does Ouriku use the blood technique himself or is it just the villagers?

It sounds interesting. I tried searching for the cultivation bases and found nothing that made sense. Now I got intrigued too.
Another thing that I like about the show is that even though Ouriku has a rare spirit base, no one cares, and it plays little role in the show, unlike in those cliched series where it would have been a sign that you must save the world or of something crappy like that.

I am not a fan of yaoi or shounen ai, but I don't mind it; to me it all is a friendship or bromance at most (unless the characters have actual sex, that is.)
Same with me, I just search for good shows.

Still, even short 10 episodes are quite a long time to wait for something interesting to happen. And there seem to be too many female characters.
I dropped about 20 series after the first episode. Dropping early saves time.

I can't believe it, both Chinese and Japanese! Are you perchance an avid language learner too? I want to study Japanese some time later, so right now I read manga mostly in German.
I am so jealous that soon you will be reading untranslated novels and comics.

Naturalmente.

Are all Chinese anime that unpopular?

I don't know, I miss Oubu and the humour of the first season. The second season is just all serious talk and no jokes. I liked the last episode though, I think the show is finally getting better. Really, ep.7 was probably the best of both seasons so far.

Oh, so it is the same concept present throughout the Chinese shows?

I will try Ling Qi, the premise sounds promising. Huyao doesn't look like my kind of thing.
Do you perchance learn Chinese or Japanese?

Haha, don't be sorry, you are interesting to read.

Buona giornata!

Hi!
I see you are also one of the very few people who watch Reikenzan. How do you like the second season so far?
