Hey sorry I didn't get to this post earlier, but yeah no problem. It makes you wonder why naruto has such critizm towards it. But i think fans may equate all the filler and shippuuden pacing issues along with that but when you look at the canon story as a whole for the original classic ninja tale of Naruto, it was quite good and was a more personalized tale of young shinobi in the face of such adversity, struggling in an adult world and trying to discover there own identitys and there place in such a corrupted world. Shippuuden to that extent does continue those themes even though some of the core mechanics of the original naruto tale kind of were changed and replaced with more "super powers" but either way they are both amazing and once you finish all of naruto shippuuden, you will feel like the protagonist influences and inspires you in ways you never seen before.

Right and obvously you get different points of views from people who have experience in anime or more casual fans. Personally I think some of the HIGHS in Shippuuden are probably even superior to the highs in the original series at certain points, but I can't in good faith completly change my own critique with the series when I know there are still alot of problems with it and I gues like I said it really depends on how well invested you are in the characters and the world and if you don't always look at things with a photographic lens like I do and just sort of turn your brain off and enjoy some good shonen action and emotional moments, then you may really enjoy it alot more then some people. I do look forward to seeing what your thoughts are after you go through some episodes though.

Personally my favorite shonen so far is one piece but that is another whole discussion. Just enjoy it and you be your own judge.

Also just want to mention that for many years there has been an unadulterated hate that has followed naruto for as long I can remember. This was not always the case. At one-point naruto was probably one of the most talked about series even amongst mainstream fans of anime but over time when it was clear that naruto entered filler hell I think is when people started chastising anyone for watching it. We were all kids back then obviously. In fact, strangely that is where the term narutard was coined. I personally grew up on this series and saw its many ups and downs but there is always that hate that follows it even today that still lingers with some communities.

I am not saying none of it is justified, but I think going into naruto just expecting the absolute worst garbage you can imagine, that is just not true. In fact, the original series itself I think has the qualities of a perfect shonen despite its typical shonen cliché’s. It’s just a shame that Kishimoto sort of didn't lay out things consistently through its shippuuden saga in terms of its characters, world views and thematic elements. But I digress, you just need to check it out and watch it and don't get put off by alot of the hate.

Things are obviously a bit different now because most of the longtime fandom are adults and a majority of us have become content creators and that has spurred kind of a new appreciation for naruto fans over the last decade.

It’s like fans tell me even today there are some great hype moments in DBZ and DBZ is well cherished by its communities but I will always consider the original Dragon ball to be actually more high quality because Akira toriyama’s planned story, characters, idea’s had been implemented when he conceived the idea for the series with its plot and themes whereas DBZ is where it becomes delegated to a "lets save the world from a villain, rinse and repeat". It sorts of lost that clever consistency. Though the Frieza saga still remains one of my favorites in DBZ.

In any case go ahead and give naruto a shot and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

If you were to factor in just the canon story, then yes I honestly do think naruto is a great series with phonominal set up and character arcs, and a tale of shinobi that protrays the realistic horrors of young ninja growing up in a world with war and adversity at every corner and I think Kishimoto did a great job building the story and set the foundation of the series, based on that. Its more of a personalzed story as well that focuses on the internal struggles of these characters and how they are able to overcome certain obstacles.

That being said I would not consider shippuuden to be a 10, there are some extremly grativaying high moments in the series but over all the shippuuden saga does have quite a few issues were is the original show is a bit more consistent in quality.
The series deconstructs it self to be some what different and some characters have minute development and are almost entirely shoned because of the story so heavly focused on sasuske and naruto its kind of like Dragon ball Z in that way but over all, naruto in its entirey is still a very satisfying watch but I will say to skip all the fillers beause that is really the one thing that truly drags it down.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
