Most works in any medium can be quantified by debating their aspects and parts and rating them on a spectrum, best-worst, 100%-0%, whatever floats your nice boat. To get a good rating a series should excel in one or more aspects; how could it hold up to any decent standard otherwise? The more and higher aspects excel, the higher the rating. The higher the score, the less fuck-ups happened(horrible scene composition, horrid dialogue, dumb as fuck plot points and so forth). Its quite simple, isnt it?
PS: comedy doesnt fit that well into this rating system. Some jokes land, others miss.
When youre discontent with my ratings of comedy, ok. If youre not content with my other ratings, grow some taste, and do it elsewhere. Idk, read a book, get laid, touch grass?

[All ratings were done after thorough consideration, but are outdated. My knowledge regarding the medium in general is not bad, but rather patchy. The longer I continue, the more I understand, so some 5's might be 8's, and some 7's might actually be 4's.]

10 - A typical masterpiece often revolutionizes its genre. Great characters, top visuals, a story that draws you in. The sound design fits the show like a glove and the directing is top notch. Those shows tend to be better than money. One might find some scenes to be "bad" and what not, but calling them such is often subjective.

9 - Not as much of a Roundup against bad taste cunts like a 10, but still a passionate piece of work of talented artists.

8 - surely worse than a 9; fuck-ups didnt hinder the enjoyment too much.

7 - still good. Anything 7 and under can nearly never be considered a masterpiece. Remember: objectivity exists.
Example: BahaSoul is by any standard worse than Kill la Kill.

6 - Decent: enjoyable and not that much of a waste of time. Current topic of scientific research is if hot garbage like Nisekoi or Fuuka belong in this tier or way below 3. Like, Nisekoi consists of 50% Shaft-esque niceness and 100% rage fuel. Thats 150%, motherfucker. You like it, and you hate how you like it. Where tf does such content belong? Beats me, so certainly you too.

5 - The Twilight Zone
Below here you should get this dull feeling after every episode, every chapter, this "Man, that really wasnt worth my time "-feeling. Even without this feeling continuing such series often equals struggling; never could an aspect mentioned above for such a show be called great. Often they cant even be called good, in general, and period.

Everything below a 5 fucks up. It fucks up a lot. Such shows tend to look bad, but try to distract with cheap and unhealthy eye candy, such as poorly conceptualized fan service and flashy fight scenes. They more often than not take themselves way to serious and routinely pretend, sometimes even try, but always fail to be something more than what they are: mediocre at best.

4 - Ugh
You might have a reason watching this, but its hard. Struggle on, soldier.

3 - Sometimes such works temporarily inhibit brain functionality in a way that the newly captivated enthusiast more or less merrily continues his mission to get another "completed"-entry.

2 and 1 - Offensive. Repulsive.
Lately some shows force more and more pain(ful scenes) on the viewer; below 3, every whole episode IS pain.
Your struggle would be in vain, recruit. Fall back and wait for another chance to strike.
