Some people on Twitter told me that this isn't the first time he's teased the idea of a sequel to assuage complaints about the writing quality and then just ignored it.

Do you see Aka as a devious manipulator who will just lay low until the hype dies down and hope that the anime will distract people? But seriously, it seems that this type of ending will clearly cause serious damage to the expectations of the audience, since they will know in advance that their expectations and hype will not pay off in the future.
RobertBobert Dec 20, 9:12 PM
I even wonder if Aka himself is aware of this and what he is going to do about it.

The fact of the matter is that such things not only ruin the original stories, but also seriously harm the careers of the authors themselves and their future. By the way, there has long been speculation that Aka had a nervous breakdown or something like that. I mean, even Mengo advised him to take a significant break after finishing and after the bonus chapter, people especially started pointing out the drastic decline in the quality of his writing, especially in comparison to the work of the LA writers or the LN writer.

Also, you said Game of Thrones, right? This is truly an epidemic. Beware, spoilers for the ending of Yellowstone.

Technically yes, but I don't think announcing another Renai Daikou will do anything to help his career in THAT situation, if not make things worse. Do you assume that the audience's reaction can be seen now by how the last volume is sold?
RobertBobert Dec 18, 7:44 AM
It's funny, but you're not the first to compare Aka with this couple. Too many sad coincidences. But anyway, do you think that Aka's career is now in very big doubt due to the expected failure of his new manga, for which he destroyed his magnum opus? I'm not a professional mangaka or writer at all, but even I understand that abandoning and destroying such a high-profile work for a title with such low stakes is extremely risky.

Are you referring to how people quickly forgot their complaints about Kaguya's ending after the Oshi no Ko craze? Well, I think that if his new work really turns out to be a mediocre fantasy as expected, then he won't be able to do it this time.
RobertBobert Dec 17, 12:07 PM
Yeah. At least this. Although I was really surprised that if the bonus chapter is actually a desperate attempt to damage control the last two chapters of the manga, then LN seems to set you up for a non-existent sequel. This is clearly better than the delusional yuri bait out of nowhere, but it still looks like the desperate convulsions of a terminally ill person.

Considering how Aqua used his rebirth at the end, I think he either literally went against god for controversial things, which for strange reasons was never explored, or Aka just threw it away along with the crow girl herself because he just didn't know how to use her. Well seriously, just imagine that God tells MC that he should value his life, MC agrees, but in the next arc MC committed suicide, and God disappeared. I'm just tired of plot holes be so gross that I don't even want to think about why the manga ending cover for Shonen Jump only shows Ai dead.
RobertBobert Nov 14, 7:41 AM
Also as stated, the idea of Aqua dying before Ruby as Goro correcting Sarina's early death in front of him just doesn't work due to how Aqua's death makes Miyako feel the death of her adopted son before her, potentially traumatizing her in the same way. That is, by trying to undo the trauma of Sarina's early death in the past, he causes Miyako the trauma of Aqua's early death in the future.

By the way, I found another old interview where Aka implies that he does not have the ability or desire to give a full-fledged ending to the side characters. So, maybe the LN about Akane and Kana will actually be a flashback? After all, if this were an unnecessary yuri sequel, then it contradicted this formulation of the question.. but one way or another I don’t know if they can be considered side characters.
RobertBobert Nov 14, 5:23 AM
Even if we forget that the ending of the manga essentially justifies suicide for the sake of others as self-sacrifice, I also recently realized that the ending greatly damages the significance of Aqua's life and his role in the lives of other characters, by being forced to find a new meaning in life and struggle in the aftermath of his death, the characters seem to rebuild their careers or lifestyles not because of Aqua's involvement in their development, but in spite of his death. That is, his help to them was replaced by their own actions. That is, Aqua was erased from the plot even more than just by dying.
RobertBobert Nov 14, 4:37 AM
Well, as far as I can see, Aka and the publisher are already trying to portray this as a bittersweet end and defiantly idealize Aqua's suicide, just look at the poster for the final fan event or listen to Aka say that Aqua was forced to give up happy things because of responsibility. This is disappointing.
RobertBobert Nov 13, 5:09 PM
Do you think this actually has the potential to somehow influence the ending, at least by changing the ending of the anime?

Eh. But if it’s not difficult for you, keep me informed if you find out any details before me. Thank you in advance.
RobertBobert Nov 13, 1:55 PM
By the way, that same LN was supposed to be released simultaneously with the last chapter. Nothing known yet? I hope that like LN about Ai, it is a flashback to their past.
RobertBobert Nov 13, 9:17 AM
Well, that would work great in an incest route. But in this form, on the contrary, it angers all the shippers. Except maybe yuri fanboys because of the fantasies that Kana and Akane could now be together at least in their headcanons.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
