My scores are a lot lower than most people's because it helps me differentiate how I feel about shows better, as opposed to just squishing them altogether in the 7-10 range. That's just for personal use though, so any reviews I do would follow the typical scoring schemes.
*Not to Scale*
Berserk and Gantz are my two favorite franchises by a fairly large margin so I think it's important to say something about them on my profile.
If you haven't read Berserk yet you really need to check it out. It's most likely the best manga ever made, however it does suffer from unpredictable (and recently very sparse) chapter releases. The site I use to keep on top of these releases is http://www.theblackswordsman.com
Gantz is sort of an acquired taste, but if you are into really badass seinen you'll be reading it with your jaw dropped the entire time. Two or three volumes are released every year.
It's definitely a possibility. You'll notice that I did almost a direct comparison between the two animes. However, I feel like that probably isn't the case, simply because:
I enjoyed the first few episodes immensely. I'd say it was great up until the end of Mai's arc. Then it started going downhill for me. The scene that killed it was the kiss scene with Ayu...I mean srsly he kisses Shiori one episode, then kisses Ayu and tells her he loves her? That scene caused me to simply not empathize with the main character...and as mentioned in my review, I dislike miracles. Clannad had a few here and there...but KANON IS FILLED WITH THEM~! uguuuu~! xD
As for Clannad, I would definitely recommend you check it out and finish it to the end. Clannad is different than Kanon in that it's actually boring up until episode ~15 and then it gets amazing. The After Story is similar: boring up until ~8 and then just wow. And by boring, I don't exactly mean "boring", I mean it kind of drags on a bit? The funny scenes make it still enjoyable to watch though. However, if you end up making it through the After Story you'll be more than rewarded by scenes of epic epicness. :D
Hello. I just got my box earlier this week (because of long shipping and customs), but I can't tell you anything about the menus yet, as I'm having some problems with bd-player.
I don't know when I'll get the discs spinning... I can leave a shout as soon as I get things sorted out, but you can try to google if you're in hurry.
Sure, I'll let you know. Actually I'm also planning on doing an youtube video of opening the boxset and showing the contents. I can throw you a link, if I get it done.
Mujun rasen is truly mindblowing. It didn't really hit me on the first watch, but after first re-watch of the movie I was totally in. I have watched Kara no Kyoukai movies 4-5 times and on every re-watch I discover something new and interesting.
I think that 8 is too low for fifth movie indeed. But there are people with different tastes and spans of attention, so I totally understand that Paradox Spiral was too heavy and complicated for some kids out there.
I also like your rating system. Nice to meet someone else who rates "average" anime as 5 and not 7-8.
yea, very underrated anime and a great sci-fi tale...a lot more than what can be said about some of the newer shows with the recycled male lead and kchildish setting...
They pretty much just blew up the dvd version of claymore. there are a lot of artifacting issues, and other image quality problems.
You'll only notice the quality issues if you're hardcore with noticing minute details in picture quality, though.
Otherwise, getting the BD set should be okay. Most people just feel that the BD release for Claymore was half-assed because it's quality wasn't what BD stuff should be at.
Ah, that's awesome. Crossing my fingers for a good Blu-ray release.
Hopefully, if there is a Ga-rei zero Blu-ray release, funimation better do it right. I definitely don't want them to mess it up like they did with the Claymore Blu-rays.
