I assign my scores in a completely subjective way; certain shows are rated higher/lower than they should be simply because - when I watched them - I was either too "inexperienced" or my mood greatly affected my enjoyment. I am positive that, were I to re-watch certain shows, I would definitely assign different scores than the ones I actually provided.
However, you can still consider my scores as a broad indicator of the entertainment value of a given anime. More specifically, the following is a VERY rough break down of what you should expect from my scores:
10: masterpiece. This anime has greatly moved me, and it is something that I would recommend to anyone, regardless of their preferences. Although some people's expectations might not be met, I doubt that this show would not be at least appreciated.
9: an outstanding anime. If you like the genre, you should definitely check it out if you haven't already; otherwise, I would still recommend you to give it a try, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
8: a pretty good anime. Consider watching it if you like its genre and themes, but do expect some flaws.
7: a decent anime, but with some noticeable issues. I'd suggest to stay away from it if you do not like its premises; if you do like them, though, just do not make watching it a high priority.
6: borderline acceptable. I do not consider it to be a complete time-waste, but this show is affected by huge problems that are difficult to overlook and might severely impact your experience. Only watch it if you have already watched - and appreciated - most other shows of its genre and are completely out of ideas as to what to watch.
5 and below: just do not bother entirely, regardless of your appreciation of the anime's genre. It would be a time waste, either because of plain boredom or total annoyance.
