The first animes i saw were Grave of the Fireflies, Mononoke-hime and Spirited away. This is leaving out pokemon and digimon and such stuff that was aired on television and I sometimes glimpsed upon while I was bored.
I didn't really figure back then that what I was watching was the tip of a giant iceberg, just waiting to be discovered. I didn't realize it before my former roomie introduced me to Mushishi. I was totally captivated and so I started my anime-journey.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - RATING SYSTEM -
Think my list is weird?
My list is meant for my own purposes, and i rate according to what value I was left with after watching an anime.
I don't really care what means are used in order to please me as long as it does. Hence animation, sound-effects, music and so on has little impact on my rating unless it was really essential in creating the mood.
Basically I watch anime in order to sit down, relax and keep my mind off my studies and other troubles for a while. If an anime can't even keep my attention, it is rewarded by a rating of 1.
Worth mentioning, i also try to make use of the entire scale of ratings, which results in my ratings being a bit lower than most users here. 2 is given if I barely managed to watch the whole thing, and 5 if I enjoyed it. If I wouldn't change anything about it, there's 8 and higher.
Ten are given to the anime that blew me away, and that I consider the absolute best amongst my favorites.
