Hey, another reason I’m replying today is because something reminded me of you mentioning Power Rangers! I was talking to a customer on the phone and their child in the background was singing the Power Rangers theme lol. What was your favorite cartoon as a kid? Or like, childhood show? For me it was Ed Edd n Eddy, but as an adult, it’s easily Avatar the Last Airbender, it’s still better than like, 70% of all anime I’ve seen lmao.

Yeah, it has some problems, but to be fair - L4D2 had tons… and I mean tons of problems on release too, it’s only after years and years and years of patches it got to the damn near perfect state it’s in now, so I think with time B4B will get to that state too… the thing is, will the people who made it stay long enough to polish it? <_< That’s my biggest concern.

Chili con carne? Hey that’s not a bad one, has good protein and complex carbs. My favorite thing to do is catch salmon and make lox bagels out of it! They taste super yummy when they’re wild caught, and if you don’t prepare it right, well, there’s a decent chance you’ll get a fucking parasite - so it’s a good incentive to not mess up LMAO.

Well well lol, it’s not that I don’t like it. . . it’s that i don’t get why people love it. O_O I honestly don’t. We’ve had this story around since Battle Royale, what made it stand out is super fascinating to think about. It wasn’t particularly done in any way that’s too estranged from other works in its genre, I don’t dislike it, but I don’t love it lol. But once again *sigh* maybe I’m a bit too cynical.
I will say this - I can’t believe how many people it got to read subtitles. Like, my entire town would rather DIE than watch dubs - then that show came out, and people are telling ME…. ME to watch the sub, and not the dub. Like, bitch, I’ve been doing this shit since I was 12 who the fuck are you LOL.

Well, you know power rangers, right? Yeah, the origin of it is super sentai. Like this.

It’s been around forever - even longer than anime. In fact, shounen anime are BASED off super sentai. It looks deceptively simple on the surface, but just like anime, it has great shows and great characters as well as soundtracks. Power Rangers is an american adaptation of Super Sentai, and cuts out a lot of the mature themes to be suitable for children. Sailor Moon was actually an attempt to get girls into Super Sentai, that’s why the magical girl genre exist too. It may look stupid and corny, but there’s great ones out there. And I highly recommend EVERYONE who watches anime watch one. Just one super sentai, despite the occasional cheese, because this is literally one of the origins of the medium we love on here.
I remember my friend refused, but I made him watch two super sentai series: Jetman and Kamen Ryder Ryuki - he ended up crying over both of them by the end haha.

But I’m also not gonna say it’s not without it’s corniess and laughs. For instance, you’re gonna have to get used to stuff like this lmao.

Do you like spooky horror movies as well? I love them!! Ya know, a lot of them are tons of subconscious allegories for people’s fears at the time. The 60’-70’s sexual revolution spawned slasher films, which were oppressive metaphors for controlling sex among younger folks, or they’d be punished in the form of the slasher. It’s all about the dangers of sexuality. It’s super fascinating to me!

Hahaha maybe we’re cut from a similar cloth… the thing is, I’m loud and talkative all the time, to the point it gets me in trouble sometimes lmao. My family and friends literally beg me to shut up sometimes lol. I’m a big people person, so it’s fun to me!
Ah, Life is Strange is one I haven’t dabbled in, but I know has quite a bit of clout and controversy around it among casual fans as well as video game analyst. I’m honestly very ignorant of it. Little Nightmares, though! I loved that game very very very much, and still do now. It’s a great game to sink your teeth into. As a fellow fan of L4D2, how do you feel about Back 4 Blood? I like games that I can spend basically forever on if I’m motivated enough, I really am in love with deep mechanics, and have been that way all my life tbh. I guess it all started when my brother showed me Street Fighter 3, I spent all day at the arcade learning it until I could beat nearly everyone there lol.

I honestly don’t get it and am curious to figure out, my theory was covid subconsciously playing a big role, especially in the states - it sort of lifted a veil that was already pretty transparent of class equality, and in my opinion Battle Royales since their inception have kind of been a critique, rather, an artistic expression of Marxxist principles - ya know - being not at the top makes you poor as shit - kill everyone else to get to the top - and battle royales are an outcry for this principle. That’s just me anyway. What about you?
Perhaps I’ve been too desensitized to these kind of stories. But let me ask you! If you liked Squid Game - you may like Alice in Borderland! The live action series based on the manga, the two have been compared quite frequently and have a similar premise.

Also, if you ever feel embarrassed watching k-dramas, don’t worry… because I watch Super Sentai. . . . . . . If you ever think it’s rough being an anime fan, good luck explaining why you love Super Sentai to any sane person lol.

I think the medium has kind of exhausted itself for the past few years and is more obsessed with ticking boxes in charts than wanting to, ya know, tell compelling stories. But i’m trying not to be so cynical. . . it’s been interesting seeing this medium evolve since i got into it at the age of 12. How did you get into it?

Hahaha just a little, but it was nice to know about some basics of the bbc code. Since I work with computers already, learning even something small about them was a blast. The real demasculation came from, once again, writing tags for 2000 anime series in 4 days. . .

I was bored in quarantine so wanted to do a fun side project. The thing is, I have an addictive personality with something I even slightly enjoy, even if it's something like martial arts, cooking, or a game. Like I have to have it down. So I told myself I'd just do like, 100 tags a day. . . One hundred turned into 300. 300 turned to 500. And i eventually did them all. I felt so horrible I wanted to throw up lmao.

You too?! I love urban exploring! It's so fun and spooky, and gives me a chance to test out some gear I buy, like gas masks and boots, and helps out my sense of awareness.
