Hi anyone who reads this,
I haven't really considered myself an anime fan before, seeing as I haven't seen many of the classics and I haven't been watching that long, three years now, I think. But seeing as I have watched a lot of anime in that time (I haven't put everything in my list yet) and I don't have a lot of people to talk to about it I made this account. That's the reason for my username. I've got to admit I'm in love with anime now :) I mostly watch high school shoujo, but I have watched other anime too and loved them, so feel free to recommend anything. If you're asking for recommendations from me I'll probably be best in that genre, though.
I got into anime because my cousins girlfriend recommended kimi ni todoke to me, and I gotta say I didn't expect myself to like it, somehow I thought anime wouldn't be the thing for me. I was wrong. As I have been many times before and probably will be again. I LOVED it, it's still my favorite anime up until today and I doubt that will change. It's sweet, it makes you happy but still teaches you things about life. If you haven't watched it, go watch it! NOW! (or read it, the manga is great too)
So now that I've been aggressive and forced my opinion on you I can write something more about why I love anime. I think it's magical and I have never really been able to put my finger on the exact why. I think it's partly that it's often got lovable, character driven stories that are both silly and can still make you cry. Also animation makes it possible to show emotion in a different way than actual acting that makes anime very different from normal tv-shows I've watched. There's also something about the japanese value system that makes those stories feel alien enough to make me look at things from a different perspective. I can't tell you exactly what it is, though, anime feels soft somehow, soothing even big blows and making me feel afloat, I know that sounds spacy but that's all I can come up with to describe it.
I have read manga too, but mostly of very good anime I've watched. I think it's mostly because I like the music a lot and it's easier to get into anime because you don't have to work as hard (it that the right way of phrasing it?). Once I love the characters though, I can also be a die hard manga reader.
About me: I'm currently studying songwriting, just saying that cause I noticed that music can have a subconscious impact on my taste so that might explain some things. I won't like an anime just because of the music though, if I love it I love it.
So if you want any recommendations, or if you want to give me recommendations, tips, comments on a review, anything please feel free to message me (or comment? not exactly sure how this works yet) :) Thanks for sticking around and reading this drag on introduction, I love you already!
Cheeers
P.S. Here are some things I will already recommend to you whoever you are:
KIMI NI TODOKE!!!! (in case you hadn't noticed)
Chihaya furu (anime and manga, I'm currently in my after-dip from missing it)
Skip beat (anime, but mostly manga, funny, intense, cute, shoujo but still different)
Bakuman (big chance you've watched it being on here but I recommend it anyway)
Lovely complex (Just cute, made me happy)
3-gatsu no lion (Just awesome, both cute and serious)
hmmm... some things were a while back, I'll think about it and get back to you.
Almost all of the above are non-depressingemotionalgutpunch if you want those, I have some recommendations too *evil laugh*

If you come to this site again, I want to let you know that you look like a wonderful person! I don't know you, but I want you to have a good life and to be able to have a good time this year as well.
And I'm glad your enjoying Naruto, I agree, it is a long series, but most of the episodes you don't really need to watch because some of them don't connect to the actual story.
