I don't think the modern era really interests me that much, besides like the 9/11 and War on Terrorism stuff. Yea, it's sad what happened to the Kennedys, especially JFK. My mans practically allowed us to keep our lives by preventing a nuclear holocaust, gotta have mad respect for that. I think he's one of my favorite presidents, besides FDR. As for Bobby, it's also sad what happened to him as well, but he had a massive target on his back cuz he was attorney general for a time and if i recall correctly, he went after mobster groups so it's understandable what happened to him. Still sad though.
Best action flick ever? Now that makes me kinda hype, since one of the genres that I enjoy happens to be action. However, its length is one of the things that is holding me back from watching it. I'll get to it eventually though.
Inglorious is Tarantino's magnus opus in my opinion, and yea I know he had Pulp Fiction but Pulp pales in comparison. Inglorious has a lot of Tanrantino's unique styles, plus a ton of well acted scenes. It also is a completely different film from average films. The Irishman was alright by Scorsese standards, it didn't impress me that much. Also, I think that all of the plot points could be achieved in a lesser amount of time as well. I also think that Parasite was the best one of that year, it really speaks volumes on social class systems not only in South Korea but in other parts of the world as well.
Funny you mention film major, I was considering of taking a major or minor in that but personally I figured it wasn't practical, instead I chose to become an aerospace engineer instead, and even though I kind of regret my decision as the classes Im taking are mad difficult, the topics are way too interesting for me to just up and leave haha. I don't know about international relations, it seems interesting enough, but I always had an interest in history. The most interesting era to me was the FDR and Truman eras.
Never heard of Kizumonogatari nor Night is Short, Walk on Girl but I'll make an effort to check them out, the only issue is my time since I've been bombarded with assignments and assessments since school started so there's no guarantee I'll get to them.
In terms of films, Before Sunrise bored the heck outta me, I watched the first 20 minutes and decided it wasn't for me. I didn't even bother to see its two sequels. Akira Kurosawa is an interesting specimen of a director, I have not seen any of his films but Seven Samurai is on my watchlist. I've never heard of Eric Rohmer.
Personally my favorite directors are Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Christopher Nolan. I do not know if you've seen any films by their doing but please let me know, love to hear your thoughts on certain films. My favorites from each are The Departed and Goodfellas from Scorsese, Inglorious Basterds and Reservoir Dogs from Tarantino, and Inception and Memento from Nolan.
You do only watch anime series/films or do you watch live action films as well?
