Happy new year! Hope you are enjoying your time in the holidays!

Hey! It's been ages since we last talked. How are you, school mate? I've managed to finish my undergraduate thesis and degree last June. A lot has happened over the past months. I just continued to watch Detective Conan on my spare time and recently watched the latest movie in theatres with a friend. I'm dating someone for quite a while as well as landed a job in a bank as sales executive. I know that you're inactive here lately, but I hope to hear from you soon.

Banger You-jitsu Second Season review. You really just laid out all my feelings about the first three episodes really well. Good job! Hope the anime gets better for the rest of the season.

There is a lot of deus ex machina stuff in the series, but I personally find some stuff to be a bit smarter written than others. While yes, it would still take a few years to end because of how long it takes to write and draw a few hundred chapters, One Piece has still ended its ending phase. A lot of the works back then that ended, like Naruto, are still remembered a lot, but I feel part of that is because it ended only 5 years ago. Something like Bleach, while still spoken of due to nostalgia, even that is experiencing issues keeping up with the other popular shounen, even though it's finally getting its final arc adapted. One Piece is likely to have more of a impact after it ends because of how long it is and how much more popular it is than the other shounen works.

Oh I see. There are a few I want to check out. The new season of LL is something I'm interested in terms of sequels. I also wanna check out MiA by the time when s2 starts, since I enjoyed the manga and really like some of Penkin's compositions for the show. Hoshi no Samidare is a popular manga that's getting adapted. My friend has also spoken highly of the LN for Isekai Ojisan, so I wanna check that one out too.

From what I'm seeing, it's not an easy piece for younger kids, especially with the combination of eighth and sixteenth notes higher up on the scale. Hell, I don't even know how to play some of the notes. You guys probably got an easier arrangement, but still, it's insane that they'd tell you to remember the music. Unless you're doing marching band or something, you shouldn't have to.

Interest Stacks are nice, since they can help organize stuff while also allowing for you to give little descriptions of your thoughts on the show, or why it appeared on the stack. I'm using them for my anime/manga milestones (the written parts are a bit outdates) and I'm probably gonna use them for an "anime of the year" kind of thing.

It's been pretty good. I'm almost done Alabasta now and I have to say, Oda's art is glorious, especially with how early this is into his career as a mangaka. Alabasta is the first long arc in One Piece, so I get that. For me, it was like the first time in the manga where I felt that the Straw Hat Crew could maybe lose, especially with how strong Crocodile seemed. I still think I preferred Arlong Park to Alabasta tho, since I feel some of the stuff in Alabasta is a bit of a deux ex machina. Like for example, the entire bird squad, or how they got to the big battle even though they were stuck across the 20 mile river. From where I got in the anime, I think Marineford was my favourite. Water 7/Ennies Lobby is a close 2nd for me. After hearing that One Piece is entering its final saga, I just started thinking about what would happen to anime as a whole when it ends. Like One Piece is the biggest manga of all time and has definitely left its impact on the entire scene, but when will people start to forget about it, if they ever do. Or when will people stop talking about it? The only thing I can compare it to is Death Note. Every knows it, everyone's seen it, but hardly anyone talks about it because it's so old. Then again, there's stuff like Dragon Ball that's still pretty decently spoken about.

Oh I see. That's much more different that I thought it would be. I thought it was just another one of those team soccer/football things, but that sounds interesting. I know this sounds like a meme, but I'll check it out once I catch up to One Piece lmao.

Is there anything next season that interests you?

Memorize? The only thing that we had to memorize were scales. Most people can't memorize music, unless they're a conductor. Hell, you're supposed to annotate your sheet music. Having to memorize a composition doesn't make sense to me. Like sure, you'd remember some parts after playing it so often, but having to memorize an entire piece and play it doesn't make sense. Ohh piano. My hand-eye coordination is pretty bad, so whenever I tried to learn how to play, I just ended up failing. I was always pretty jealous of people who were able to play piano, but then again they were often enrolled at such a young age that it was basically just their parents forcing them to learn.

In the most recent Kanokari chapter, some progression has happened between the two, but I still don't really see it ending anytime soon. Reiji's new work could've honestly been pretty good if they kept up with the whole "we're still family" plot, but it seems it's moving away from that.

Ah I see. It does look really easy to use, but I just personally don't like how empty it looks. Having larger images would be really nice for it and I might actually switch to it instead of having interest stacks. Something else they could do is make it more like Google Draw or smth, where you can just drag and drop images and text.

I started reading One Piece. I decided to pick it up from the start of Alabasta, as I tried to read from the very beginning and found the start to be a bit of a slog. I find Baratie to be a turning point for the series and Arlong to be when it really picks up, but since I've seen the anime for those arcs twice already, I decided to skip them again. I'm having a lot of fun with it and Alabasta is still stressing me out, even tho I know what is going to happen lol.

Btw, how's Blue Lock? I've heard a lot of good things about it and I'm just wondering if I should be checking out the manga before the anime or not.

Ohh I see. That's kind of interesting. I feel like having parallel stories where the MC chooses different girls would undermine the overall impact of all the buildup tho.

During elementary school, our teachers would make us sing songs for certain days and stuff. Band was mandatory back then too. It was less stressful playing back then tho, since I was less shy. There was this one part in elementary school that did get me stressed a bit tho, called the wind ensemble. The teacher picked me for it and it was made up of only wind instruments. There were only 6 flutes, so if one of us messed up, you could hear it without listening closely. That got me stressed a bit. Middle school is when things started being optional, but I chose to do what we wanted. I joined concert band and it was much easier then since there were so many of us. I dropped concert band in hs since when finals happened, I always felt like I couldn't keep up with everything. Finals, practice, sectionals, other assignments, it was all just too much.

I think I started to lose interest after the whole thing with Chizuru's grandma. After Chizuru finally broke down crying, it was like "Oh a confession is finally going to happen." It would've been a great timeframe to confess too, since basically all boundaries were broken between the two, and yet here we are still awaiting a confession. Oh I didn't know that it started already. I also just forgot the title lmao. I might check it out if only a few chapters are out. Ngl I find the whole incest thing to be a guilty pleasure of mine if that's the premise, as they're all just really garbage and dumb, but when it comes out of basically no where I find it to be really annoying and tiring. There was this show called Koi Kaze that got recommended to me since it's apparently a much more serious take on incestuous relationships instead of the normal stuff, so I wanted to check that out sometime, but just haven't gotten to it yet.

Also I see that you're using the new thing for MAL. I was thinking of trying it out, but I just didn't like what I saw from it and overall just found it to be less appealing looking than just using the BBCode (not that I really get how to use it lmao). I might switch to it tho if they can make the images bigger, since the tiny images is one of my biggest issues with it.

Edit: I went ahead and read the first few chapters of Reiji's new manga and I'd have to say that it's... okay. I think the fact that they're addressing that it's an issue is a good thing, and how they said that they should continue being a family is good, but I feel like they're just going to end up spiraling into an "all the sisters like the MC" kind of thing.
PandaUwU Jun 14, 2022 5:17 AM
He chooses different girls in the anime and manga? I find that to be a really weird choice for the anime team to make.

Ah I see. Yeah the manga art looks pretty nice too and it might just be better than waiting a week for every episode.

I learned a bit about most of the instruments the band had, as I tried them all out, but I mainly just played flute. We never really attended competitions, but we did play at basically every event the school held. There were a few times when we combined with the strings as well.

I feel like if I take a break from Kanokari, I'm just never going to read it again. There's just nothing really worth mentioning in it. Everything is dragging out and there's just a lot of flavour text to pad out the runtime of the series. I don't know if I even want to check out Reiji's new work when it comes out. It's unfortunate too, since I remember really liking the series and genuinely being excited the first time a confession was hinted at. Now it just feels like they're hinting at a confession every chapter and I hate it.

Yeah I'm planning on checking out all the big romcom titles sometime. Kubo and Anjou are first, might check out BokuBen later.

I just really couldn't keep up with the main character. The mystery and concept are both really interesting, but the main character's decision to split up almost every time he can has just been really annoying. I don't think it will pull a WEP, as the manga is completely finished, unless the show runs out of time and just crams everything into a single final episode, like WEP.

I admire and love Kumiko and her journey and braveness so much. The show was extremely relatable, and it nailed a lot of the band aspects really well, from first experiences touching instruments, to learning how 8 to 5 steps. It really made me regret leaving concert band after grade 10. I wasn't much of a fan of the 3rd film, as I felt it was pretty rushed and lifeless. Part of it can be summed up to Yamada, Naoko leaving KyoAni, which hit them pretty hard. Liz to Aoi Tori is just amazing to me, and the sense of depth Yamada was able to create makes it even better on every rewatch Imo.

Ah I see. I've finished it now and I'd say I had fun watching it. The character writing felt off at times, as it felt like characters only mattered when they were the focus, but the whole feel of a big family was really nice and warm.

Kanokari is finally reaching some point of conclusiveness and I really hope that it's for real this time. I was honestly contemplating just dropping it, as I don't think I can handle reading a new weekly chapter for absolutely nothing to happen anymore.
PandaUwU Jun 9, 2022 6:27 PM
Oh yeah, the audiences for both yuri and yaoi are pretty specific. Personally, I just read them like any other kinda of romance, unless it deals with the struggles of coming out, where I would read it as if it's a yuri/yaoi. I'm also just finding myself reading both yuri and yaoi since I want to explore my views on genres and things I like, as I'm kind of getting tired of just reading all the weekly romcoms I normally read.

100 Kanojo sounds like a really weird thing to write, as there are 100 of them, but I'm pretty not every single one would be a main characters, so it probably sounds fine? I'll still check it out. The top 2 romcoms on my list atm are Kubo and Anjou.

Yeah I had a feeling you'd like it. It was pretty wholesome, but I just had trouble getting into it.

I'm pretty behind on Kaguya, but I've bene loving what I've seen. From what I've read from the manga, this season (maybe next actually), is going to include my favourite parts of the series. I really want to catch up to it, but I'm just watching other things atm and just other seasonals ate up my time. I probably should've dropped them earlier, but now that I'm so close to the end of them I'll probably just finish them off.

I ended up watching more Summertime Render earlier today, and I think I hate it now lol. I really liked the pilot episode, since it was just filled with mystery. The following episodes were just filled with the main character making decisions that I thought were all really stupid.

I've been on a bit of a KyoAni/Yamada Naoko binge lately. I watched all of Hibike Euphonium and I loved it (minus the 3rd movie). The show, as well as Liz to Aoi Tori, are probably some of the best things I've seen, they're both certainly top 10 for me, maybe top 5. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if I woke up one day and said Hibike was my favourite anime. I've also been watching Tamako Market, which has been okay. I loved the initial few episodes, but I felt it loses steam as it goes on.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
