Thanks so much for your anime recommendations. I really appreciate the thought you put into it - I know my list isn't easy :) As I'm currently watching Monster by the same author, I skipped Pluto for now (though I will try it in the future.) Similarly, I've seen Ashita no Joe S1 a few years back, and I'd like to watch S2 before I watch Megalobox as it's been heavily inspired by it. But Summertime Render was a great choice, as I did have my eye on it as well.
I watched the first five episodes of it pretty quickly and will go back to watch more of it soon. Initially, I was quite excited as I love rural settings and murder mysteries, and the show is quite engaging and easy to watch. As I watched more, I was a bit sad that it was more fantasy survival than murder mystery, but I'm still holding off on judgment as there is a lot more to go. The show also looks quite nice!
Thanks again! And happy new year!
Now that Santa has its reveal, I'd like to thank you for your recommendations! I had Nodame Cantabile on radar for many years, sadly I couldn't find time in past week to watch it, but I'll try to watch it soon!
Thanks for recommending me Chobits. It's definitely been a show I thought about watching before given it's such a classic but I heard it was a controversial series. Having sat down through the entirety of the series, I'd have to say I did enjoy the show overall. The themes it was trying to convey about persocoms (love how this is just computers in JP) replacing human relationships and other aspects of society were quite intriguing. The side characters' conflicts and backstories concerning this theme were my favorite parts of the show, especially the sensei's circumstances. Man, I'm so jealous of Shindou. That reveal around ep 16 and the transition to the new ED theme song was quite memorable. The ecchi comedy can be quite excessive though, like Hideki and his "snacks." My favorite character has to be Sumomo. She's such a fun and obnoxious persocom. Felt that she provided the most entertainment value for me in this series.
Overall, I think I would have given this series a 7/10 but the small issues I had with the show as mentioned led me to rate it a 6. Thank you for the Secret Santa gift. Loved the OP/ED. Love the side characters. Hideki is a good guy and Chii is precious.
