I'm just a dude living in the burbs. I enjoy sports, anime, video games, friends.... stuff like that. I graduated from UIC (University of Illinois in Chicago) in 2011 with a Bachelors in Math and C.S.
******Oh and before I talk about some stuff I just want to name some favorite characters I couldn't name (but Shougo, L. Lawliet, and Ulquiorra are definitely my favorite 3, and I also like Shinya but just not as much, Light on the other hand is not a favorite). I'd put Lamperouge Lelouch on here but it would be forced since he's kind of like a Shougo, L, Izaya mix but just not as good or that like-able in my opinion ;O
Well...... In no particular order: Lucy, Urahara Kisuke (A lot of Bleach's characters are actually really good, especially Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez and some of the captains just to name a few. As you can see I've seen my fair share of Bleach and am still kinda on the fence about Ichigo, He's not terrible he's just kinda..... boring. Either way no one trumps Ulquiorra in Bleach =)). Jin-san from World Trigger (This show has some interesting side characters as well), Major Makoto, Vash the Stampede, Olivier Armstrong (also others), Misaka Mikoto, Accelerator, Yato, Misaki Mei. And then of course there's this show named Gintama.... Probably the best overall variety of all sorts of crazy, funny, strong, like-able, ridiculous characters. They can also turn very serious and/or heartwarming when they need to and in a good way. But Gintoki and Kagura are probably my favorite. There are plenty of other good characters but these 20 or so are among my favorite.......... ANYWAY!!!!!
My first anime/animes I watched were probably DBZ and yu yu hakusho and whatever else they were showing at the time on toonami when I got home from middle school. I still wasn't that big into anime until probably around the time I graduated college. I actually used to only listen to dubs and hated when a show was too new that I had to watched it subbed. Oh what a fool I was =P Now I can't stand most dubs.
I love animes that make you think and are well written with plenty of pleasant surprises and twists (but not too many =P). I also love a good series with a badass character or two (or more ;]) and plenty of good action.
I'm really not all that into mecha or romance/slice of life animes although there are plenty that I enjoyed watching. I loved Aldnoah.Zero and Code Geass (although I think both are much more than just mech battles). I also loved say "I love you" and I guess you can say I enjoyed Clannad =P among others.
I have seen two of the "big three". Never got into One Piece for whatever reason. Bleach is definitely my favorite of the two I have seen. Besides it's flaws (which I think all anime have) I love Bleach and if they took out the fillers and some of the battles and training that drag on for too long it would be that much better. I am hoping and looking forward to them announcing that they will animate the 1000 year blood war arc!
Favorites include Death Note, Psycho Pass, Shinsekai Yori, Tokyo Ghoul, Hamatora, Gintama (which I LOVE, but am only like halfway through, and btw I started watching before this crazy Gintama fan bus craze thing happened lately), Death Parade, Black Rock Shooter, Another, Shiki, Durarara!!, Zankyou no Terror, Elfen Lied, Shingeki no Kyojin, Ergo Proxy, Darker than Black, Black bullet, Akame ga Kill!, World Trigger, Fairy Tail, Bleach (w or w.o fillers, still good), Naruto (some fillers are decent, some are just complete garbage, I didn't watch the last 100 episodes of Naruto and just went right into the second series, but my god, the manga already ended.... why are they continuing to ruin the ending/best fight/best part/climax by airing fillers in between every main episode at the end.... Feels like a total letdown from what the climax could have been if done properly (very disappointed =[), the many Fate/Stay series, Angel Beats, all of the Certain Railgun and Index shows (and hopefully they'll animate the accelerator manga one day!) both Full Metal Alchemist Series, Nanatsu no Taizai, Ghost in the Shell series, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Noragami and I'm sure there are plenty more =P I also don't mind some of the more cliche but still entertaining shows like Log Horizon, Sword Art Online (I especially liked the first arc in SAOII), Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon, Mirai Nikki, NGNL (life is a very elaborate game after all ["I love this game that people call “life” from the bottom of my heart."]).
Those are just some of the shows I enjoyed off the top of my head!
Always looking for new suggestions and anime to watch!
