History I started watching anime in 2010. Highschool of the Dead was new and my first anime to watch. Despite being somewhat frightened initially, I still liked it as a fan of Call of Duty and its Zombies mode at the time and still remains a favorite. It also lead me to discover other anime, and even those that I don't conside to be anime, like American cartoons.
Preferences I like watching anime under Action, Adventure, Comedy and Romance. I prefer watching in English. If there's a remake of an old anime, I tend to watch the remake first, unless it's a live-action remake, in which case I'd always watch the original first. I'm also not a fan of rating the shows I watch based on quality, but instead, I rate them based on enjoyment. I don't limit myself to just anime, it extends to cartoons outside of Japan. Lastly, I really like anime that subvert my expectations and succeed at doing so.

Thanks for the recommendation! I always love those, but I'm definitely not a fan of sex shift series.
I agree with your statement that it was knee jerk, but at the same time I cannot stand any media that tone-shifts drastically. For example I loathe comedy-drama films because the first 60% is always hilarious but then it gets taken over by melodrama. I mean, if I wanted to watch a drama series I would just do that from the get go.
Those 4 are good choices. I think they'll work out well for you. Korra sometimes gets flak but I like it and the main character, myself. I even have a Korra theme for my Anime List: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/SuperGreenTea
I've still got to finish the most recent RWBY (season 9)! Things got a bit weird and wacky with the fairy tale world they found themselves in so I took a break from it at episode 5. My fave RWBY was season 8. I enjoyed seeing Cinder rise to ascendancy/supremacy again and become a formidable/menacing adversary for the RWBY girls.
Right on. The GGO 2nd season should be a blast. The 1st season was a lot of fun and a satisfying self-contained 12 episode story, and I wasn't expecting the twist/revelation at the end with Elza Kanzaki. I do like the GGO game setting/dynamic and Sinon, so the Phantom Bullet arc was my fave from the 2nd season, but even though the Excalibur arc is sometimes derided (and as you said, there's less on the line), it's still better than some of the VRMMORPG/isekai clones flying around. I think part of it is the charisma and chemistry between the main characters like Kirito, Asuna, Sinon, Suguha, Silica, Lisbeth, Yui, Agil, and even Klein lol. It's a nice group of friends with some cute/charming female personalities in the mix.
I see you've mentioned some non-MAL animations you like on your profile. Some of the best ones I've seen other than RWBY would be Castlevania, Arcane, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Trollhunters, Amphibia, and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Have you heard of any of those and are you interested in any of them? I wouldn't want to pressure anyone, but for someone who's a big RWBY-head, I'd say Arcane could be something you might well end up liking, and I don't think you'll have a problem with the 3D art-style or American VA's.
I was recently saying to another MAL friend that I enjoyed making a reference to SAO season 2 because Sinon is one of the top SAO girls (I've had her in my top 10 a fair amount through the years - you've got to try balancing/contrasting electric blue hair with pink hair in your top 10, at least once during your MAL residency lol) and really the only slight dip quality-wise was during the Excalibur arc, which is more just a straight up mix of fun and irreverence. I think the GGO and Mother's Rosario arcs are good/strong story arcs for an isekai/video game setting, and deal with some heavy issues but never at the expense of entertainment or the cute/charming aesthetics. You get to see Sinon and Kirito (in a female avatar/incarnation) connecting in-game and getting through their PTSD together, and Asuna and Yuuki Kanna getting as close and affectionate as friends can, and dealing with mortality and bereavement. I mean, there aren't many mainstream anime that go those kind of of deeply upsetting and tragic places. I think many would rather play it safe and focus on the bright side of everything.
I think it boils down to taste, I'm a musician myself and although I'm not much into jazz I can appreciate it, and I have two friends very into jazz that love Cowboy Bebop for its complex jazz soundtrack. Cosmic Dare is probably the music I like the least in the whole soundtrack because I'm not into pop, but I do recognize it's a good pop song (Tank!, the opening theme of the series, I find a bit annoying, but it's a good jazz track), but what I find the most amazing is that it was all composed by Yoko Kanno: the jazz, the metal, the pop, the classical, the pop rock, the electronic; such different genres and she does good songs in all of them, as a musician I find her amazing.
What do you think about The Real Folk Blues (ending theme)?
Hi, just saw your Cowboy Bebop review, found weird your comment about the music, because Cowboy Bebop is highly regarded as one of the best soundtracks ever lol (and it's the only anime soundtrack to get 5/5 on music sites that are not about anime)
Just check how many soundtrack albums they got, it's not just that it's original score, they are all superbly written, and most soundtrack is very technical high level jazz so I guess you are just not into that, but they also got very competent songs in other genres like blues in Don't Bother None, some Bossa Nova fusion in Words That We Couldn't Say, pop rock in Gotta Knock a Little Harder and Call Me Call Me, heavy metal in Live in Baghdad, cathedral in Rain... the movie also got fantastic soundtrack of wide variety, all the jazz but also songs like Ask DNA, Cosmic Dare, Is It Real, Pushing The Sky.... Cowboy Bebop got a very unique soundtrack among anime. Perhaps you missed those songs I mentioned while watching the anime, try checking on them in Youtube.

Because I know you really love your RWBY ;)
