I'm doing it on Yasuni National Park in Ecuador, and a proposal the government of Ecuador made to preserve part of it indefinitely (there's a huge oil reserve under it) if the international community paid them for preserving biodiversity (it's one of the most biodiverse forests on earth) and forgoing huge carbon emissions. It's for my Environmental Economics class.
I am quite confident in my people skills in a one-on-one setting or in a group setting in which I am not the center of attention (offices, parties, etc.). But when I am the center of attention, like when giving a presentation, it all goes to hell. I get nervous and freeze up. The words just stop flowing and ah, it's terrible. On that note, I have a presentation in about a week and a half. God. Damn. It.
Yeah, that's probably a big part of it. I don't have too much to add. I have an (probably irrational) hatred of the military and the concept of militaries, so I generally avoid talking about them, haha.
That's an interesting point about ego, never really thought of it that way. And lol at that general. The army is the absolute worst for sexual assault, apparently. Only read about it once or maybe twice, but it sounded pretty grim.
I feel like the dismissive thing is endemic to forums and informal internet discussion in general. The goal always seems to zone in on details that, in and of themselves, don't actually address the premise of the thread in any way. "What does rape mean" and "I don't believe your old statistics because we've changed for the better" aren't substantive contributions to a discussion of why rape in college may or may not be a problem.
But it is what it is. I should probably know better than to create a gender-based thread on MAL (God forbid one with "sensationalist" writing), considering some regular posters consider my views on feminism to be radical. On the other hand, literally anything is better than the elementary school level gender threads that get made on a near daily basis, haha.
No worries about not chiming in. I don't blame you, and the thread has just about run its course anyways.
It's well known that Fate/Zero is much better than Fate/Night, I'll be watching Fate/Night next so I fear I'm going to be majorly disappointed, even though I know the drop in quality is coming.
Still, I have not seen Fate/Stay Night, I've decided to leave that til after (aware that it is much worse than Fate/Zero).
I think it's pretty good. The characters are likable, the war itself is portrayed interestingly... I think I'll just go and point out the flaws now:
1) Drags a bit at times, takes too long to get things done
2) Could have developed some of the characters better (though there's still time to remedy that).
3) I always got the feeling that despite the fact the battles were good, they could have just been better.
I think I will be giving this a 7, so in the top 30% of my anime, I will have to reserve my whole judgement until it's all over, but I have some high hopes.
