Well I started out with Anime and only subbed ones at that. Just can't stand dubbed, sounds just as corny as porn actors do. However, after having watched basically everything of interest that I could get my hands on, I switched to reading manga. Now I can even appreciate the extra info and details often lost in the anime version. Though still think that color, animation, sound and music can really add a lot of their own. If I were to pick one reason, as to why I prefer anime over manga then it would be the language.
Japanese is a beautiful language. In the beginning I knew nothing. After watching hours of Anime I started to understand more and more. However, whenever I don't spent time listening to it I loose a lot of it again. Have decided to actually learn it at this point, but still like being able to listen to Japanese while watching an Anime as opposed to reading a Manga subbed in English.
I am fluent in German and English, as well as understand bits of Spanish, French, Japanese, and Chinese. No character knowledge at this point.
Am interested in helping sub-groups however, as I have literally no experience don't know how much help I would be. Don't mind putting in some effort and am generally a fast learner. Just thought it would be nice to give back so to speak. Well and bad grammar or word-choice can be a real brain-squeeze. Definitely one of my pet-peeves!!! No offfense, still appreciate the hard work!!!!!!!!
So feel free to contact me if you know of someone needing help or think I could bring something worth contributing!!!
Well my interests are pretty clear when looking at my lists but will give a short description anyway. I have deep interest in beautiful things and like romantic elements. Comedy, drama, suspense, fantasy, supernatural, and even psychological are all genres, which I greatly enjoy. So as a rule I prefer shoujo over shounen, but am not opposed to the later.
A good love-triangle or unrequited-love scenario is what really gets me interested. I need strong emotions to really feel for the characters and be drawn in. However, I still like to see a happy ending a detailed one at that....forget leave to the imagination-- then I would write my own story, not read someone else's!!!
I am not a big fan of chibi or over-dramatized/ridiculous character-art. It seems to be the thing as of late, but prefer a more realistic/mature style. Doesn't mean I won't watch or read if it present, just tend to enjoy it less. Though there are some rare instances when trying to express humiliation, meekness, embarassment, cuteness, coyness, shyness, or such, when I will say it adds to the character.
Character development is crucial, so I tend to like longer stories. Having side-stories with the side characters is always fun if they aren't being given enough attention in the main plot. Seeing a certain amount of sensical realism in the characters emotional development is important to me. WTH or HUH kinda responses don't generally make me a big fan, unless it is suspense!!!
Overall as long as I am left with a good feeling at the end I tend to rate well. However, there will be times too that I end up looking at things more closely in order not to rate either too poorly or highly respectively. I am a fairly generous in my ratings, kinda as in life, it takes a fair amount to get something low. So those things with a low score on my list... suffice to say I REALLY didn't like them much... as that is just my humble opinion and something for me to keep track of things, I don't tend to go too low!
Wasn't my intention to really do anything outside of keeping track of my anime/manga progress. Though if I can meet some nice people, learn some new things, share my interests, then all the better... So feel free to contact me if you feel like it!!! Though I apologize in advance if I may take some time in getting back to you, as this is not my priority in life!!! Thanks for reading to the end and wishing a great day...
