I like comedy, camaraderie between misfit characters, and witty bad-asses.

I like stories where questionable dated traditions/processes, which are creating problems down the line (esp for new generations), are challenged.

I value story/setting > characters > sound > visuals.

I don't like references to pop-culture. I heavily moderate sweet cutesy stuff and sugar-coated stories that are intended to comfort; I rather take the bitter stuff that better reflects the ugliness of reality, as I can use the wisdom to improve my life, but I can't use diabetes (from sweet stuff). I much prefer anime over manga, since I appreciate the depth that audio and motion add.
