Yeah, i'd argue outside of that one unique monster fight, the whole anime feels kinda dry/ boring most of the time cuz it has no story nor stake .
However, even with that Wozeimon fight the author fails to make the backstory interesting. The whole quest is as barebone as it gets with no further meaningful substance for the story. (beat the boss, npc says thanks and disappear, done)
The motivation/affection of that pvp girl makes no sense at all considering her irl personality and general in-game attitude.

To make matter worse, when they're NOT playing Shangarila, the show becomes even more boring because all author can came up with is a boring pvp game that makes no sense at all, and they spent SOOO many episodes on that boring game that makes me want to fast forward the whole show zzz.

I think as someone who played MMO for more than 2 decades, we all agree that the author probably don't play MMO , or haven't play MMO for decades. Watch my mixed review below you, we pretty much have the same perspective of author not understanding MMO at all.
We can see that most of the design here represent a single player coop rpg like the all so popular Elden Rings/ Breath of the Wild.

Unfortunately, most of the "anime fans" at the age of 10s/ 20s probably don't play MMO either , or haven't invested in MMO much that they pretty much not understanding how MMO works, and how unrealistic the whole premise of the show is and praise this anime. They would keep referencing stupid comparison like :"Oh, this is exactly like Elden Ring!", not knowing in Elden Ring , pretty much all unique bosses are beaten in less than a week due to how active our online playerbase are nowadays.
You'd probably never heard them actually calling out n MMO that's still popular and alive to compare to this show cuz they most likely never even attempted one.

Good Frieren review, seems most positive reviews only care about the characters, while completely ignoring the holes in it's story.
