The new season starts in April so most 12-13 episode series are starting to wind down. I've been watching a few harmless shows this season, but nothing really worth chasing down (at this stage, anyway). There are are couple of titles I'm interested in next season, so I'll have to think about doing one of those "what i'm watching" posts on LJ soon.
lol The Kdramas got you too?! I've been fairly distracted lately catching up on US tv shows and a couple of old anime, rather than living in the now. Durp. How are your Japanese studies going? :3
Yeah ngl, the twelve week slow burn nearly killed me. I can't wait for the BDs to finish being released, I need uncensored episode twelve like I need air. CLAMP series definitely go down better when you're bedridden, it's true.
Avengers can't compete with Saya getting her one-eyed REVENGE on the streets of Tokyo.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I thought it might be the type of show you'd like. Rispara is more typical slice-of-life stuff (with moeblob old men), but both series have Ono Natsume's brand of subtlety to them.
Yeah Index just doesn't have the same vibe, though Misaka is great in it. I loved that Railgun focused so strongly on the friendship between the girls, but still managed to tell a fun little story as well.
Oh you're totally right, UN-GO feels very similar to Ghost Story. I hadn't even thought of that before now. I think a lot of detective series suffer from that "not particularly memorable" issue. Definitely an OK way to pass the time though.
FFFFFFFFF USAGI DROP. Just hearing the title makes me want to flip tables. Chihayafuru is another one of those shows that's pleasant to watch. I couldn't see myself buying it on DVD or anything, but I do like watching it. I have a feeling Ayase is going to kick some serious ass in the future. WHO KNEW KARUTA COULD BE FUN?!
I'm still waiting for Warner to realize that they need a goddamn staff reboot, not a character reboot.
THIS. THIS TIMES A THOUSAND. You can reboot the books as many times as you like, but so long as the staff aren't right, things are not going to get better!
Yeah the OP is fun, the show not so much. I still can't believe it got a second season (which still tells "jokes" from the first) while series like Aoi Hana get rejected for an S2. Stupid sales figures. There's no accounting for taste, I guess.
I'm glad you enjoyed Railgun. It's pretty much an entire series of filler, but I remember watching it at a time when I really needed something just /fun/ and nothing else. Shirai can be obnoxious, but the general theme of "these girls are friends and they do stuff" kind of made up for that. Kamijou and his relationship with Misaka plays a bigger role in the Index series. Railgun is a spin-off from the parent storyline involving Kamijou and a tiny (annoying) nun. There are two seasons of that, if you're up for watching the bigger picture. I didn't enjoy it as much as its spin-off, but it certainly broadens the universe we glimpse in Railgun. If you liked seeing Misaka kick ass, she definitely does a lot of that in Index.
UN-GO kind of doesn't know when it wants to show us its hand. I imagine we'll have to wait until the end to get the full story. It's not a bad way to pass the time, at least. Self-contained detective stories are entertaining enough, even if they're not wholly memorable.
Chihayafuru I like, but yeah, as you said, there's definitely a love triangle shaping up. The manga seems to emphasise the kurata-playing aspects though, so I'm hoping that will balance out the romantic stuff in the anime too.

"Masterpiece" doesn't even begin to cover it. I need the movie, like, yesterday.
ALSO, PLEASE GO SLEEP YES?
