If you want, skip the first 40-50 chapters. The anime already covered them. You'd be missing a lot of important foreshadowing, but then it's not really obvious till you're done with c135. I myself had to re-read c90-c93 to make sense of Ciel's reactions. Gonna def re-read the entire manga bc omfg so much foreshadowing! Cannot believe Yana had been preparing this reveal for us for 10 God damn years. Kudos to her patience.

I noticed the similarity immediately, actually, and even suggested the manga to a massive Bassy fangirl (who's a friend of mine)
