I'm happy that we have similiar tastes, it's fine on your shipping preferences.
I have heard of 10 Count and will plan on reading it soon.
Thank you for saying that (referring to the Fushimi part)

Normally in my super-natural shows I expect them to be fundamentally illogical, but Death Note had established its premise and aside from the base element of the Death Note/Shinigami, it was always logical. So when it deviated from that it was an unrivaled disappointment.

Haha, time-travel is indeed in large part viewed as impossible, but they're simply views, in reality we can't be 100% sure of whether or not its an achievable concept. But since logic is eternal and ever prevailing, I can point out the only logical method of time-travel displayed in fiction to date.

Yeah, I believe the author of the manga is writing an anime original ending. I don't know how it will stack up to the manga exactly, but with the author being the writer, that's far better than what's normally anime original.

Grisaia really is the best harem out there. You can tell that in the first series it was rushed, painfully, but I still found it to be very good. My favorite female character ever came from that series (Amane), and Yuuji is one of the very few protagonists that bloody earned is harem, he deserves one! xD

These days I have been really caught up on two types of stories, conquering the world stories, and stories with a villain (or at least someone who's amoral) as the protagonist. What about you? What have you been into?

Alright, round two!

I loved Death Note SOOOO much, but after L's death, I hated every single second. I'm actually a Light fan, but the writing became complete shit. For the first 25 episodes every conclusion was logical, the reasoning of Light and L was rational. Their duel was my favorite intellectual battle in all of fiction. Every second of their sparring verged on ecstasy. I was always pulling for Light, but at the same time I was just an observer, regardless of who won, I would be able to stand up and offer my applause. This battle reached a glorious conclusion through Light's masterstroke. The memory loss plan that allowed Light to get rid of both of his enemies... I loved it. But then the show continued. As soon as Near was introduced I knew Light was going to lose. The author had already written a beautiful narrative with Light as the victor, he wouldn't do the same thing twice. So while I was initially disgruntled, I still watched to see how it would all unfold. As I watched through those 12 episodes as the writing became shit, I felt more embitterment towards a story than I had ever before. Light's intelligence was drastically lowered so that each and every action he took was more nonsensical than the last. Near pulled conclusions out of his ass like it was Mary Poppins' bag. The sheer amount of coincidences increased tenfold. I hated every single second, every scene, every little bit of dialogue. In the final episode I was verbally expressing resentment at what was unfolding. It wasn't that Light lost, that's not beyond the realm of possibility, it's how he lost.

I've never seen Naruto, so I can't really comment. I would've already perused Naruto but I didn't like how early it started off in their journey, rather, the dynamic that existed for them in those early stages. Naruto is the loud-mouthed kid that says he's going to be the best but is rather unskilled. Sasuke is the quiet, but highly skilled kid who sits in the back, and Sakura is the tsundere who likes Sasuke but shoves off Naruto. From what little knowledge I have, I just hold no desire to really see those early stages. Plus, there's the extreme mountain of fillers in the anime. With the manga finished those will no doubt lessen, so maybe when the anime finishes I could check out the show with a guide of "how to skip fillers", but right now I just avoid the show.

Mikoto was both the best character in that show as well as the fan-favorite. He's that character that I just respect, truly. Plus, he was so fucking cool. xDD

K's animation is my personal favorite in any anime I have ever seen. The bright and vivid color palette, the character designs and the backgrounds, the fluidity of the action, it was all phenomenal. But the aspect that solidifies it's animation as my favorites was definitely the camera shots that were employed. The best example I can give is this one scene where Yata was chasing someone down on his skateboard. Rather than a few panoramic jump cuts the camera was angled slightly behind and close to the ground and followed Yata in his movements. The turns and jumps all maintained a constant fluidity and never changed. I adored those types of shots. Or one scene where Anna had her little balls circulating a map, and the camera angle was on a corner and gave depth shots as the balls rolled around. I haven't read any of the source or side stories, but I definitely liked the show. Very excited that a second season is coming this fall. (I still need to see the movie, too.)

Anime/manga/LN are my biggest hobby right now. They don't completely consume my existence, but I enjoy them to an immense degree. They serve as my escapism from reality. A heavy day of work/school, I turn on an anime when I'm done. It sounds foolish to someone from the outside, but the mediums hold a lot of meaning to me. I really only have my elder brother to discuss with in real life. I can discuss various anime with him for hours without getting bored.

Mikasa is an excellent character. A lot of people gave her flack as a mary-sue and for being too reliant on Eren, but I always found those to be such trivial and foolish arguments. Eren is that person that means more to her than anything. She loves him with every fiber of her being, would follow him anywhere, do anything for him, but that mindset she holds is completely, and 100% understandable. She saw her family brutally murdered in front of her. The innocent eyes were forced open to bear witness to the world's cruelty in a single instant. She was about to be sold into sex slavery and then she was rescued. Not only was she rescued, though, Eren was the first person after that ordeal to extend a hand of friendship and love towards her. That meant everything to that girl, she feels eternal gratitude and companionship for the family that took her in and showed her love. It was also a beautiful moment of character growth when after believing Eren to be dead, she made the decision to live on. She wants to protect him and stay by his side, he's one of the few people she cares about in this world, but her character isn't just this blind, idiotic devotion for the hero, it's genuine.
Kurisu was also a great character. The Kurisu x Okabe ship is one of my personal favorites. I loved the development of their relationship. They started off genuinely not liking each other, but they still were together because of a mutual interest in the time-travel. That interest morphed into a friendship. That friendship became something deeper as they continually relied on one another. That turned into love. I really adored that progression.
I also generally avoid stories of time-travel as 99% of the time they're illogical. I initially avoided Steins;Gate for a long time as I feared the time-travel wouldn't make for an enjoyable experience for me. I was half-right. Though Steins;Gate stuck to its own rules very, very well, and it was linear, it was still fundamentally illogical. That didn't detract from my enjoyment by any means, but I still took notice of it. But what was never mentioned to me prior to my watching, what truly made that such a good show in my eyes, it was the dialogue. The various interactions between the characters were nothing short of magnificent.

Guren and Yuu have an interesting relationship. At times it seems to be father/son, other times like an elder and younger brother, but throughout it all it still feels slightly antagonistic like the two just cant help but argue. I don't know what scanlation group/site you use, but I just remember laughing my ass off when Guren first suggested that he was like Yuu's father and Yuu's responded with a "fuck off" (or something akin to that :P).
I could see Yuu having to choose between Mika and his team, but on the other hand I can't. What I expect is that Mika will in essence ally himself to Guren's/Yuu's teams, and will fight alongside them. I expect that the dilemma Yuu will feel will be to constantly see his newfound family march into battle, with the looming threat of death eternally present. But if Yuu ever does get put into a situation where he was to choose, I expect a third party intervention would somehow alleviate the pressure from the situation by providing a solution.

I watch dubs and subs, with a slight preference towards dubs. I can always count on a subbed to be decent. I know that. A Japanese cast will always make for a pleasurable viewing experience. So when I am looking at a show trying to determine if I should watch dubbed or subbed, I look at the English cast and the general thoughts that the World Wide Web holds. I am well acquainted with English VAs, so if I like the cast, and the consensus of the internet is that the dub is good (the consensus of those that dont swing to either extreme of the dub vs. sub debate), I watch it dubbed. So for Code Geass, Death Note, K Project, Steins;Gate, I have heard the subbed is incredible, but I watched the dubbed for all of them, and they're some of my absolute favorite dubs. I am not opposed to hearing the subbed should I ever rewatch, but nor do I regret my decision. There are some shows that I always recommend to people dubbed, shows like Baccano, Hellsing Ultimate, Haruhi, Durarara, because those dubs are all far superior to the Japanese cast. But there are many other shows where I tell people that either sub or dub will work, but I personally went dubbed (see the aforementioned shows+many, many others). And then there's the occasional show that is unquestionably a subbed watch, such as Madoka Magica, Clannad, or Log Horizon. For me, I just look at an individual show to decide.

Yay! Got it written, no issues. Sorry this took so long, I generally don't like to respond after such a length of time. ^_^
CamTheThief Aug 17, 2015 8:32 PM
Haha, oh damn. First of all, let me just inform you that I respond when I can. I try and respond within two days, but I like to flesh out my thoughts fully, so I don't respond haphazardly, I like to focus. As such I have to find time to do so. Just now I had a nice respond that expounded upon my love/hate for Death Note, K Project and its animation, Mikasa, Steins;Gate, OnS, dubs, I was fond of my response. Then when I clicked "submit reply", I noticed my internet had since gone out, and thus my response was lost in an eternal state of trying to load. So you'll have to forgive me, I will once again fully explain my thoughts at some point tomorrow, but this second, I really don't want to have to re-write everything! xD

I've always loved the dynamics where two people, or a group, basically just cast off what is considered "normal", or maybe even "right" and "good" and stick by their friends/family. It's that love, loyalty, and trust that a group of people can place in one another that allows them to push through hell to see the other side alongside one another. It's a dynamic I really value. That being said, I also love when in stories that dynamic is established, but it doesn't always stay happy. (Looking at chapters 35/36), imagine if Yoichi were to just get killed by the humans. I'm odd, I don't actually like seeing characters die, but at the same time I love it when viewing the story as a whole.

The author is smart enough to recognize that fujoshi bait works, it will bring in readers which will in turn increase sales. The guy can make some money without ever actually compromising the story.

My favorite genres... It's a bit difficult to qualify my tastes. Honestly, I wouldn't really say I have a favorite genre, but I do have a favorite element. Above all else I love it when a story can make feel genuine emotion. I don't know what anime you've seen, but the best examples I can give are from Attack on Titan, Code Geass, and Fate/Zero. There are certain scenes in those stories that give me an indescribable feeling. It's not always sadness or grief (though it can be), but just emotion. I almost felt it at the beginning of OnS, when Yuu's family was slaughtered. They were just kids. They were trying to live life in the best way they could and they tried to reach freedom. Felid slaughtering them one by one was heart-wrenching, and as Yuu tries to drag Mika with him but ends up running because it's an impossibility, I really did love/hate that scene. But the effect was ruined in my eyes when people poke fun at Yuu for that traumatizing experience, when the next chapter/episode was a high-school setting with casual conversation.

Aww, it sucks if you stand alone as an anime/manga fan. I have a couple of people I can discuss with in real life, but this site takes the cake, definitely. I love discussion, truly. I can talk about anime/manga (stories in general) for hours and find it to be genuinely enjoyable. This site is awesome for that. You can speak to some cool people, and occasionally you find an ass-hole, but my experience has been positive in sum.

Haha, thanks for the compliment to my page! I've gone back to edit it multiple times just to try and present a quick image of my thoughts and opinions. I intentionally tried to stress how subjective anime really is because I can't even begin to count the amount of times I've heard "You're taste is shit", "Well, you're not being objective about it", "shit opinion right here folks", and far too many times I had to delve into the idea of subjectivity. You wouldn't believe how many people seem to be incapable of understanding that simple concept. I ask them, "What makes a good character", they launch into a tirade on good development, deep thoughts, they feel real, etc, etc. And at the end I just ask them "Why does that make a good character" and they're left dumb-founded, often times neglecting to respond. I'm arrogant enough to hold that even with that subjectivity some stories are absolutely superior to others. But that is my own arrogance. I'll argue for days on why I loathed Neon Genesis Evangelion, but I can't actually fault someone for simply liking it.

I am a big fan of the world of OnS. The Vampires aren't original, but I love the display of their power and arrogance in the face of humans that they both loathe and fear for the human's depravity and cleverness. It's a really cool dynamic. I also adore the artwork. The fractured city that has begun to succumb to nature with vines and weeds growing through the cracked structures. The usage of old, broken down tunnels and buildings with no glass and rays of sunlight coming through holes in the walls. I love it.
I'm also quite fond of Guren, he can be a bit too much of an ass at times, but I am really curious to see his plans come to fruition because I cannot stand the haughty demeanor that the Hiiragi family holds. My favorite character is Shinoa, though. Her cute, sarcastic, and taunting mannerisms just synthesize for golden dialogue between pretty much anybody. She's also experienced a bit of real development in trying to handle her team and really just growing up, if just a little bit.
I'm a romantic at heart. I haven't perused a lot of the pure romance genre, but if a good romance is added into a story, in my eyes it is only beneficial. I like the Yuu x Shinoa relationship. They're foils to one another in many regards, and that opposites attract notion holds some appeal in this situation.

Yeah, the action is good, but since this is monthly, it doesn't often feel like we get as much content. And I would like to see more dialogue especially if half the speeches on friendship could be dropped. I don't want that friendship theme to disappear, I loved in the most recent chapters that Yuu's friends said "fuck your orders, Mika, take Yuu", that's great. But it seems that we always have to have a cheesy line to accompany these actions, and that grows old. I feel that the author has made his point, and can now let actions speak louder than words, or at least phrase those words in a different way.

Yes I am thanks so much
Your logic is refreshing Im glad you did some research
I really enjoy watching and reading such strong bonds in Anime/Manga between friends and family especially bromances they're too cute , but it's annoying how mistunderstood they are
Even fans love to distort them which I'm also not fond of
Lol you're right the Owari No Seraph Mangaka has a way with making some scenes extremely passionate between Yuu and Mika, but I love every bit it's my favorite manga as of late
I would love to discuss other series with you I checked your page out and we have similar tastes in series and even ideals
Your page is hilarious as well condescending and witty nice 😉
Opinions are subjective
Thanks for accepting

Hujambo, friend. Happy to accept a friend request and discuss pretty much any anime/manga that I've seen. :)
With the close family/friend relationships in the Japanese culture, I think a lot of people are just ignorant of it. I myself was until my brother and I did a lot of research into the Japanese culture (their real culture, not just anime research :P). Sibling relationships just mean more. Though the Japanese aren't often verbally expressive about their feelings, they still have them. One example that always stands out in my mind was this one video game in Japan about a brother and sister trying to survive (can't recall the name), but when brought over to America the relationship was changed to a father/daughter (I think that's right, even if I am off on the details, the connotation is the same.) Yuu and Mika have always been these close brothers that tried to protect the rest of their family in the Vampire city. You can see first episode when after having blood taken their arms are around each other for support. I never had an inkling of a relationship for them beyond two brothers just trying to make it in a fucked up world. I won't deny that the author throws in some fujoshi bait, but far too many people mistakenly assume Yuu and Mika's bond to be just that. This most recent chapter wasn't two would-be-lovers having a fight, it was two brothers, one refusing to let the other die. It's a good series on the whole. I wish it wasn't quite so Shounen all the time, but it's still good.

Oh, and welcome to MAL, by the way. I see you're still fairly new to the site.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
